We are in central Fl right now on vaca and want to move here. We don't mind "bugs, etc. etc." but I would like to know when the flying vampires are at their peak season or if it is the same all year round. Right now they are bad but we are on a canal if that makes a difference. Some months worse or better?

Don't know about the mosquitoes but you want to do some research on love bugs. I think they were around last month and will be around in another 6 months. The last a couple of weeks.

Mosquitoes are worst during Spring, Summer and Fall due to the fact that these periods have the most rainfall which is vital for the larvae to develop and mature. Dryer and colder periods does help cut back mosquito population. Either cope with the little buggers, invest in bug repellant, or stay indoors as much as possible.

Most citiesdo spray for mosquitos on a regular basis. Here they even put chemicals in retention ponds to kill the larva before they hatch, too. In your own yard just make sure water doesn't sit in anything when it rains, etc.

Agreed with you !!

Not all areas within the city limits are sprayed/maintained regularly by the city or county, especially during tight governmental budgets.
