My family and I are traveling to the Ocala area in June and wondered if anyone could recommend a decent hotel on the outskirts of town? We don't need fancy, just clean and safe. Any help would be appreciated.

Which part of the Ocala area ? Plenty of hotels to choose from, especially near the I-75 exits. Once you confirm the area you want to stay at, it will be easy to make some suggestions. I highly recommend the Google Maps tool to find a hotel (either from your cell phone or a computer).

The Hampton Inn is probably the best value for the Dollar. It's new and has a free breakfast.

I will respectfully disagree with your assessment. It is the newest hotel in SW Ocala but not one of the most economical one.

I didn't say economical. There are plenty of crapholes that fit that bill. I said best value for the dollar, taking into consideration freshness, cleanliness, comfort of bedding, amenities, and convenience. Sometimes you pay a little more to get a lot more. This is one of those times.

I would go with Holiday Inn on 200, I stayed there, and it was the nicest holiday in I have ever stayed at.

Not sure of area? we are house hunting with a realtor and I just wanted a decent place off I-75 I believe? We are driving up from Orlando airport, so something off that interstate? Any help appreciated.

Oh for crying out loud, Ocala isn't that big that it will make a difference.

I doubt you'd regret staying at the Howard Johnson's off Hwy 27; not a wonderful area but the hotel is well situated and very clean with great prices. I am there for a meeting every week and the owner is putting alot of money into the place; everything is new! You don't want to live in the area but I'd stay there if I was looking and I usually like a Sheraton.
