Is there a good place to get REAL Mexican food in Ocala? I am specifically looking for good tamales. Any recommendations based upon personal experience?

Actually ran into someone selling them at one of the local flea markets and only for a $1 but she didn't speak english so I couldn't get any info from her. But her's were so good...the maso has so much flavor and the tamales had just so much heat to add flavor and make them enjoyable.

Went to Latinos Y Mas on Sunday and it was AWFUL. Great ambiance and beautiful restaurant but the food was awful. I ordered a chimichanga and it came back so greasy and with absolutely NO taste whatsoever. I was so disappointed. My husband's enchiladas were no better.

Try Pepe's on W Hwy 40 at the intersection of 80th Street.

Wish I could help. I had higher hopes for Latinos Y Mas myself and was disappointed. I chalked it up to my taste for TexMex. Your experience matched mine. Good luck, amigo. There is bound to be something around here.

and so...made it to Pepe's today and it was GREAT!!
Didn't get tamales because I wanted to try their most popular item - had the Carne Asada - perfection.
My husband had the Tilapia a la diabla. His was good, too!
In fact we had to split them b/c we each wanted the other's...ha.
Yum...thanks for the telling me!

Also picked up some of the baked desserts and fresh chorizo from the store. : )))))!!

Thanks for the update! May have to go there myself. Fresh Chorizo is a bonus. Oh! Almost forgot.....went to The Empanada Factory on 3rd, down from MRMC. Awesome food.
