Does anyone know if they are planning on doing road work here? Horse farms have removed or moved their fences back. A mobilhome home has been removed. Live Oak is one of the farms.

The County is planning on widening SR 40 from SW 80 Ave out to CR 326. Eventually, I believe they want to widen it all the way to 41.

Absolutely correct. It has been planned for many years but due to legal issues with some property owners it has been delayed many times over several years.

While we're on the subject of roads .... What's going on where 40 and 41 meet? By the underpass? There looks like a large drainage pond going in.

I haven't been out that way in awhile, but I do know that there had been a problem there with flooding during moderate to heavy rains. The county did redo a retention area to help alleviate it, but that has a while back. I also know that 41 is slated for widening at some pont. My best guess is a combination of a few things:

Better accommodation of a four lane expansion of 41 and 40.
Better effort made to reduce/eliminate road water runoff into the Rainbow Springs watershed.
Perhaps someone is getting ready to build there. ( think CVS, Walgreens, or Racetrack )

Just a guess.
Have you heard anything, Dontaskwhy ?

Be on the look out for an approval to building 200-300 new homes and retail development near Rainbow Springs. They didn't really give an exact location, but It's probably going to be close to this area.
I believe it is in the Star Banner right now... hope this development doesn't blight Rainbow Springs.
