Hi...a friend of mine wants to meet up with me to explore Ocala this year. I am coming from Tucson Arizona and she from Newport News Virginia.

We are both looking into flying into Orlando and are looking now around end of September first week of October. Is this a good time of year maybe after school starts so not a tourist time for better hotel rates Ect.?

I do love the fall...granted we both know it will be warmer.

Thanks..

Any time is good. Look at a tempeture chart to see average temps and pick one you like. Also look at humidity.

You would be in huricane season but I would not worry about that.

September is still pretty warm in Florida. Nicer temps would be late October or November.

Hi...so when you say warmer, 80-90 plus humidity day and night? Me coming from Arizona we are still in the 90's however are dryer. Still short season there in September?

Cheers..

Sept = Just a tiny touch cooler than July-August, still quite humid. Low's in the 70's. Not as hot as Arizona, but mostly it's the humidity. Here are the average temps.

Mid October.
Weather getting into the best range.
Typically the start of "season", per se.

A lot of the smaller town "festivals" kick off around that time. To the north of Ocala, the McIntosh 1890's festival third Saturday of October, Micanopy's festival, the following weekend after that, always worth seeing.
I believe there are some others to the south around Belleview as well.

Ocala is great, the outlying smaller towns is where you can get a real feel for interesting history of the area. Do some google searches on those areas, particularly to the north (imho) and some cool stuff can be found that even a lot of the locals aren't aware of. Just to whet your appetite.......

The ghost towns of Wacahoota and Shiloh are a couple. The 1991 movie "Doc Hollywood" (Michael J Fox) was filmed in and around Micanopy.

Happy travels.

Thank you for your info. Years back we had considered moving to northern Florida from Virginia however ended up in Arizona to be closer to family.

Question is during this fall time, do I need to bring some bug stuff? Where I live here in Arizona there are almost nil unless I fill my bird bath, the flying ones that is.

Cheers..
