Presently no job...and no insurance...
.....therefore I need to find a free clinic as I presently have no income. I would appreciate anyone having info relative to where in Ocala I can go as I am in need of medications and medical attention asap. Any suggestions would much be appreciated.

I would first suggest applying for Medicaid. You can start the process online: The Florida Department of Children and Families
Also, head over to the Health Department: Marion County Health Department Home Page
I believe they offer health services on a sliding scale.
Sorry to hear about your situation. Hope this helps and good luck!

I have just completed the Medicaid application route....with no success as they advise that since I am in the appeal process of soc. sec. disability, I am not eligible for medicaid, but if I do secure disability, I will then need to begin the whole process over again....which process took many hours to complete to the fullest. The state and federal government make it very difficult for a disabled person who has not yet been determined "disabled" by their specific criteria to obtain assistance. Their criteria is: to be 65 yrs. or older, pregnant, have children or already been determined disabled. I am none of those. I am 35, unhealthy, no job, no insurance. Would they like it better if I get pregnant and live off the system for the rest of my life....hmmmmm????

The "irony" of no health care for people who have problems is exemplified by my friend, he was diagnosed with diabetes, but had no health insurance, so he could not afford the insulin, test strips, doctor monitoring, so he just watched his diet and stuff. He gets sicker, and can't work, files for disability, by the time he was eligible, he had renal failure, needed dialysis, and was going blind. Which, all could have been avoided, if he had ongoing health care and monitoring of his conidtion prior to going completely off the edge.
But the good news, is that he has Medicaid now, and SSDI, and will soon be eligible for assisted living.

For anyone in this situation, I have to say i think it's horrible that people in arguably the richest country in the world are suffering like this. Try this website www.freeclinics.us and it lists many in Florida, but none in Ocala. There is a free clinic in Wildwood that our church mans, it's open a few evenings. Call St. Vincent de Paul church in Wildwood and you should find information.
My youngest son was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 29, his insurance had just been dropped by his employer. Because of the severity of his illness, he was given SSI & Medicaid assistance almost immediately. He died 2 days after his 31st birthday. I fought the system for 2 years and know how tough it can be. God bless.
