Hi Catarina, If you are thinking of mving to Florida, need to think about work, kind of area, do you want to be close to a beach or central. Lots to think about......... I live on the east coast of florida within about 1.5 hours drive of Orlando, area nice, relaxed and laid back and great for bike week. Let me know your thoughts and interests - that way should be able to give better pointers

I have a retail job that I can transfer anywhere to, so I know that I will have a job right away. My only other concern is school. I'm pursuing a degree in criminal justice (corrections). I really love the beach, but living on either coast scares me. I would prefer not to live in too large of a town, but want to be close to a larger city.

Hi Catarina, had a think about what you are looking for, I live in Flagler county in Palm Coast, I like it here, easy access to the beach and to large cities. Jacksonville is about 1 hour north of here and St Augustine is about 30 minutes north.
I am not sure but I think Daytona College does criminal justice course you need to check them out on the web. Local to here you have Bunnell, Flagler Beach and south of here is Daytona, as long as you drive it is pretty good area
Let me know if you need anything else

Whether you have a guarantee for a job here or not, I would not make the move to Ocala. Many businesses have closed their doors (especially on 200) only to move elsewhere. Bennigans, Shells, Circuit City, Flipside Cafe, and Roadhouse Grill to name a few. This is retirement town and called Slow-cala for a reason. 12.2% jobless rate as of March 2009. There is little in intellectual capital here, so if you are looking for good schooling, my advice is to look elsewhere since Florida was named 50th in the nation concerning education funding (i.e. last place).

Catrina - You might want to look at Gainesville or Tallahassee - both are college towns and people your age seem to do well there. Both cities have the ammenities you'd expect in college towns and are big enough, but not too big. Even though Jacksonville is in north Florida, its reputation as a pretty violent city is growing. Both Gainesville and Tallahassee have great universities and community colleges.
