Default HELP !!!! Wanting to move to Ocala

Hi I am a 38 year old Male married with an 8 year old daughter. We have lived in Florida for some time. Tampa and Orlando, we are SERIOUSLY tired of city life and want to move to Ocala. Now we are from the Carribean origanlly and want to be in a nice quiet country setting with at least 2 acres and a small med sized home. I have been to Rolling Acres and have heard the good the bad and the UGLY.

It fits our style but we dont see much " diversity there". We just want out of the city and into the country. Im an outdoosman hunter, camper. The Mrs is ore a city gal.

Any help comments or suggestions ???

Have you thought about Archer, FL? It is near Gainesville and maybe will fit your requirements better than Ocala.

silver springs shores has your diversity (large carribean population). it's 20-25 minutes away from ocala's shopping/resturants /hospitals etc.30-40 minutes from the ocala national forest in the other direction. also is serviced by a great pest & lawn company-ours. dan/pestpro
p.s the area around locust rd might be a good place to look

We are a multiracial family and specifically looked for a racially diverse neighborhood. We are in the NW area of Ocala and love it.

OMG--DO NOT move to Ocala. There are no jobs here and people are losing their homes left and right. Anyone that tells you differently is LYING. The jobs that are here are extremely low paying. It IS the poorest county in the state of FL. OMG, please don't move here. Ocala is also VERY racist, very racist. There are a lot of rednecks here. The weather is awful. We have 6 to 10 months (Depending on the year) of awful heat and humidity. It is also FULL OF BUGS. We have GIANT flying COCKROACHES here. It is an awful place to live, like living in a swamp. Most of us who live here, only do so because we can't afford to move. This is a really depressing place to live.

OCALA IS NOT DIVERSE. Having a neighborhood with some Caribbean people does not make it diverse!!!!!

Oh......and the shopping and restaurants mentioned............Chic Filet, Burger King, Publix and Kmart..............there is your shopping and restaurants.

Orlando and Tampa more diverse? Barely. They are like gigantic versions of Ocala.............segregated, crime-ridden, full of umemployment. DO NOT MOVE TO FLORIDA. It is a horrible place.
