FYI:
Check out this link and tell me if this is journalism or BS for ratings? Give the headline then admit there are no facts but quote one doctor who comments about her past in Miami. One opinoin and one agenda. How long ago and how long was she in Miami?

Did your friend tell you that the owners also built a new high school, grammer school, charter school hospitals etc.?
Regarding the restaurant waits, I have not been there during the winter but I can tell you I live on Cape Cod and guess what the restaurants are very busy during the summer. You know what that means to us residents? If it were not for the summer tourist we would not have these restaurants at all. Ya so we go early and have a few drinks while we wait for a table. No big deal.
Regarding all your other village issues including leaving the community we grew up in... last I checked this is America and I can live where I want too and not to mention but there are over 600 age 55 plus communities in Florida. You obviously have an agenda seemingly opposite of everyone I met who loves the villages. I don't know yet cause I just bought in August.

Wow, you sure do misrepresent what I say! I SAID that some ONE told me that and that it was NOT in the BOOK. You sure seem defensive. Are you afraid you made a mistake and bought before checking the place out thoroughly????

My point exactly... someone told you that it was divorce city therefore you felt compelled to add it to you post. I read the fiction book Leisureville and know the divorce city BS was not in it.
Also my wife and I have absolutely no regrets about our purchase. On the contrary we love our house, neighborhood, shops, restaurants and especially my new golf cart which is used more for other things than golf.
I may be defensive but I don't have an agenda I could care less when people like you have an agenda against the villages. I have yet to meet anyone living or renting in the villages who doesn't love it. I have lived in about ten towns around Boston and have never heard neighbors constantly expounding on how much they love their respective town. Now you know I live in the villages... where do you live?

I have NO agenda against The Villages--you have made it seem so, though. My only point is to be aware of what one is buying into in ANY 55+ community. I've been to see 4 Sun City communities, plus The Villages. I'm checking them all out and want to know what the story is on each and every one. I think the "Leisureville" book is a wake up call for everyone to do the same. That's why I'm touting the book. In fact, in many ways I thought it was complimentary to The Villages--describing the fun at the town centers, unlimited golf, etc. I had already figured out you lived in The Villages. Now get off the computer and go enjoy it!

FYI: Sun City Center south of Tampa and WCI are having issues. WCI wants to sell three of their 8 or 9 golf courses. Presently WCI is closing one of the three, The North Course. I feel bad for anyone who recently purchased a golf frontage home on that course. WCI owns all the golf courses at Sun City Center. The Villages own their own courses.
I wish I could go out and enjoy TV cause it is getting cold up here but I won't be there until Nov 1

You have a lot to look forward to and it's not that far off. Friends moved there a few years ago and while no place is perfect, overall they really enjoy it (including their dog who goes to one of the 3 local dog parks every day), they're on the go a lot and keep very busy w/ all the different activities and have made some friends from all over. Good luck w/ your move, would love to hear how it goes when you're unpacked and settled.

One thing that I have tried to find out about the Villages is whether or not my wife could have a outside clothesline and whether or not I could have a small concrete block building for my ammunition reloading (the vibrating cartridge case cleaner is rather noisy inside the house.)
