Giesela, the trucks should be the LEAST of your worries; watch out for the fools on four wheels! The good news is that I-70's construction is progressing enough to where they've started moving some of the "jersey barriers" back to give drivers some breathing room!

I'd recomend using some of the back roads to get from Vandalia to the base. South from Vandalia to Needmore/Harshman Rd to Rt 4 to Rt 444 and you are in the middle of the base. Use a tool like google maps which allows you to make directs avoiding highways altogether as well as click and drag your routes starts and stops.
