It's quite simple...Columbus has a growing and more diverse economy than Cincinnati. Back in its day, Cincinnati got far more attention than Columbus ever did but because of Cincinnati's very industrial based economy it has rapidly declined in quality since the
1950's while Columbus's economy has grown and expanded to what it is now. Columbus receives more attention now because of the fact that it has become a much better place to live than Cincinnati has.

Stay away from Columbus. It is a horrible place to live. 2/3s of the police department were felons. True. The city council doesn't listen to the people, they do what they want, even when the people vote unanimously against an issue. (Take the AmeriFlora fiasco for instance.) Columbus had a higher felony rate than Chicago. Check the statistics. The drivers there are the rudest I've ever met. Period. It is in the middle of nowhere. Fact. You will be bored out of your mind. There is a serious black/white race issue there. Worse than I've seen anywhere, and I've been everywhere.
Cinci, Dayton, Cleveland, Pittsburgh... all much better places to live. I've lived in all of them. If you took OSU (where I graduated from) out of Columbus, the city would die.
Just the hard, cold truth.

Well, OSU is probably the largest employer in Columbus.
I've lived in Cincy for two years from NE Ohio, and I really, really like it. And now that I'm here, I'm laughing at the perception of Cincy as so conservative. Take out Willie Cunningham and you have a pretty fair mix, imho. We live on the east side and it is convenient, beautiful, and only 15 minutes to downtown. If you don't love living in Cincy you're just not trying

Glad you are enjoying Cincinnati. It really is a great city. I think some that don't like it just need to take a trip to the city and look at what it has to offer. There is a lot there.

There is also the areas outside Cincinnati's 275 loop which are fairly growing. I like Fairfield and West Chester.

I'm originally from coastal South Carolina and I now live in Cincy. I find Cincy to be a great place to live. I was pleasantly suprised on my first trip to the city. Also, Cincy's cost of living is fairly low which I like. The cost of living on the coastal areas of SC are constantly going up. SC is way too hot, too religious, too conservative, etc. for me which is why I left. There are a lot of people that move to SC from Ohio though. Everytime I go home, I always see a lot of Ohio plates there. I think SC is great if you are a retiree but keeping in lines with the topic, I prefer Cincinnati over Columbus because I like the urban atmosphere and feel of Cincy. Columbus is, "too OSU" for me. Reminds me of Columbia, SC with their Gamecocks.
