Default Military, Moving To Boardman Area!!

Husband will be a Recruiter in Boardman. We have a 4 1/2 year old daughter. We are looking for "Good" neighborhoods and schools. He doesn't mind travleing about 20-25 minutes, if need be. Any info will be greatly appreciated!!

Boardman is very congested. The schools are getting large. I would say head West on 224 to Ellsworth Township (Western Reserve schools), or head South on Route 7 to Springfield Local, South Range Local, or Crestview Local schools. You won't be disappointed in any of them.

panocha 7273,
If you want good schools and a safe neighborhood I would stay with Canfield first or Poland as a second choice. My kids are in Canfield schools and I grew up in Poland. Both are very nice. you are only 10 to 15 mins from boardman, where you will be doing most of your shopping! I have lived in the area for 34 years so if you need more info just ask, I will be happy to help.

I agree with the above posts. However, it all depends on what you're looking for. Canfield and Poland are small towns with money. Schools are great. Places south of Boardman/Canfield/Poland are somewhat rural. Boardman is your typical "suburb" with a lot of cookie-cutter neighborhoods and sprawl. There are two very nice, older neighborhoods in Boardman: (one of which is where I live--that's why I mention them) Ridgewood Estates and The Glen. The Glen has nicer, larger homes, but it is closer to Youngstown and the future of the area is questionable. Ridgewood Estates is farther down, halfway between the Youngstown City limits and 224 (Boardman's main drag). The neighborhood is safe and attractive, but the homes are older and some updating may be necessary. Outside of these two neighborhoods, Boardman doesn't really appeal to me. As was mentioned earlier, the schools are large, but they are still good.
