Default Sidney

Hello, I have family in Sidney, we visit there fairly often. Sidney is a small town it has a few nice neighborhoods in-town, Plum Ridge is one off the top of my head, but overall (in my opinion) it seems somewhat run down. There is not much there, shopping is limited to not much more than a Wal-Mart and there is a Lowe's.

As far as job opportunities, I know there are several factories, Ferguson Construction Company is a nice sized General Contractor and their home office is located in Sidney and there is a Honda Plant in Ana as well.

I know Sidney recently built a new High School but I am not sure how the schools fare in test scores, you can check out greatschools.net for more information about that. Dayton, about 40 minutes south, is the closest "big" city. I don't know if you must be in Sidney, but I would check into Tipp City or Troy to the south. They are both nice cities, closer to Dayton, but within 20/25 minutes from Sidney. I don't know much about Piqua, I've driven through a few times, but that's about it. You could also look into Wapak, about 20 minutes north. I would definitely come up and check things out before making any long-term decisions.

Good luck with your move.

I grew up in Sidney. It is a nice, small town. There are a few rundown areas, but it is very nice for the most part. Most of the nicer housing is in the north end of town.

The schools are good, and they offer many extracurricular opportunities. The newest school is actually the middle school, and it is incredible. My brother was in 8th grade when it opened and was very disappointed he didn't get to go there all along.

Jobwise, there are certainly plenty of jobs in town. The largest employers are factories and other industrial places.

All in all, it is a great place for a kid to grow up.
