Default Relocating To Marysville Area

My wife and I are relocating to the Marysville area. We are in are early 40's and have two kids in college in Michigan. We are looking for a place to live but have no idea about the area. Bellefontaine seems to be a good city but I am only going by Microsoft Streets & Trips... I would like some Real People Input.
We would prefer a Golf course or two, Resturaunts, and maybe a Home Depot. Woods for hunting, Lake for fishing, close by would be a plus.....
Any info would be Great.
Thanks....

We moved to Marysville about a year ago and love it. It is a smaller town (18,000 people), but it is close to a big town (Columbus). There is quite a bit of new development already started, and more on the way. We have a new Home Depot, Super Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Office Max is under construction. We have several restaurants (Applebee's, Bob Evans and some local places), as well as the standard fast food and pizza places.

The schools are great. Ohio provides funding for schools that don't meet the testing standards or who don't receive enough public funding. Fortunately, we don't qualify in either category.

With Honda, Scotts and Goodyear plants, employment is pretty good. And no matter what your income range is, you should be able to find a nice home.

We are only 15 minutes from Dublin and Northern Columbus and all of the shopping and dining that they offer. There are several recreational areas nearby (Indian Lake, Alum Creek State Park, Hoover Resevoir, etc...) And 75% of Union County is either classified as rural or agricultural, so there should be plenty of places to hunt.

I would strongly encourage you to take a close look at Marysville and the Union County area.

Good Luck!

Default marysville

I am familiar with Bellefontaine, but it is too small to meet your stated needs. It is a very nice small town, but shopping and restaurants are very limited. It is about 45 minutes from the north end of Columbus though. It sounds like Marysville would more meet your needs.

I commend you on your love of Marysville, and yes there is lot's the city has to offer, Starbuck's coffee, Benny's Pizza ext, however you must not forget that Columbus is expanding therefore Marysville will not be a small town for long. We, however, some people do not belive being close to a large city is much easier than being in the middle of "cow-country". The decision is up to you, but Bellefontaine may be a better area to raise children in future years.

Way back in the 1860's Bellefontaine and Marysville were founded as sister cities NOT TOWNS, build similar in size and accomadations. As the years pann out however Marysville and Bellefountaine have differed a consiterable ammount. Marysville is only alive because of Honda of America, Bellefontaine however can survive on it's own, as for places to shop, what does Marysville have that Bellefontaine dosen't a Bestbuy "so I got my washer at Bestbuy and you got yours at Lowes" what a lovely shopping experience! And 45 minutes from one of the largest cities in Ohio with well over 700,000 people I think 45 minutes would be just enough to hault all big city crime from comming your way, but still not in the middle of "cow-country" You decide

We here at Stolly Enterprises belive that Bellefontaine is the place for you it has 2 great golf courses, liberty hills, and cherokee hills. As for woods Bellefontaine is filled with it, wereas marysville's forests are depleeting. I can't say Bellefontaine has a Home Depot, but they do have a Lowe's and a Super Wal-Mart! Lakes are close by, for example Indian Lake is only 15 minutes away from Bellefontaine. Stolly Enterprises reviewed sevral resturants the past few weeks and we recomend, Banna's, Los Cabos, Canterburry Coffee, and the Tokyo Grill located downtown with a beatiful veiw. you decide - Stolly Enterprises

Hmmmm.... Interesting, but not all true.
Bellefontaine was officially laid out about 1820, while Marysville was founded in 1816. They were founded by different people and were not sister cities.

Marysville has MUCH more to offer than just Honda. It was a small city of approximately 9,000 before Honda even began production in the mid 80's. It has steadily increased in population since its founding. In the last couple years the commercial market has simply exploded in Marysville with several new developments which include several Big Box stores as well as several smaller shopping centers and nearly a dozen new eating establishments.

I believe both towns would be wonderful to live in/near. Bellefontaine has remained a smaller town in the 13-14K population range, while Marysville has doubled in size over the past 15 years with roughly 18-20K currently.
