Marysville VS Bellefontaine...?????
We are relocating to Honda, I drove around Marysville and drove around Bellefontaine, I like them both, but have only been to each for about 4 hours. I recently had a thread under IOWASWONDERING, had to change my username.
I prefer Bellefontaine, (why they pronounce it "BellFountain" I don't know), It has everything I want except golf courses, and I can drive to Marysville for that I guess.
We have no kids exept on weekends and maybe the summer when they are not in college. They will be coming down from Michigan.
Any info would be great, some insight on Bellefontaine, (thats my favorite) or Marysville, I will be scouring the net for info also.....
I am hoping to move in the next two weeks, looking for a house to rent until we find an area to sink roots. We need a house because of two dogs.

tgriswold, both of the Cities are nice, both have a small town atmospher. I belive that Marysville is growing more so then Bellefontaine. I also believe that Marysville has more going for it because it is closer to the Columbus/Dublin area for such things as entertainment, shopping, medical facilities ect. Good luck .

Thanks MGbuckeye,
I originally was thinking Marysville because of its proximity to Columbus, but kinda liked Bellefontaine. It just seemed a little nicer. It is kinda remote as far as big city life, I guess my next trip will tell me a little more. Right now I just need a house to rent for about a year somewhere close to Honda, that will give us some time to decide where to buy.
Thank You for the input....
Oh Yea, GO BlUE!!!
(sorry, had to throw that in)

Stolly Enterprises approves of Bellefontaine as a city and feel that it does not get the credit it deserves for being a large city. Marysville is a city of equal size to Bellefontaine, however is often given more credit because it's population is larger due to Honda's presents. Bellefontaine is a success and has thrived alongside marysville for over 100 years -Stolly Enterprises

I think that when you compare Bellfontaine and Marysville you will find that Marysville is a growing City and Bellfontaine is more stagnet in growth. Marysville is starting to attract more people that work in and around the Columbus Dublin area.

I personally don't see what the big deal is with respect to be THAT close to a large city. Granted, I live in the northern Cincinnati suburbs, but that's only because I was born in this area and simply haven't gotten around to moving away yet. But for me personally, as long as I was relatively "close" to a major city, that's pretty much all that I would be concerned about. If it's within an hour drive, then what's the big deal? Ask yourself exactly HOW often you're really going to be going into the big city.
I'd choose Bellefontaine over Marysville. With Indian Lake not that far away, and the proximity to Sidney and Springfield, you pretty much can't lose. Very pretty in that area up there.

This is the 2nd post that I have to disagree with Stolly on... I feel he's a bit biased and slightly misinformed.
The majority of the growth in Marysville has not been a result of Honda. There are many people who have moved to Marysville to get away from the Columbus traffic. (Of course eventually the traffic is going to get just as bad in Marysville as a result of this)
Both towns are very nice and either one would be great to live in. I grew up just north of Marysville and live there today, and I have family that lives in Bellefontaine. Marysville is experiencing significant growth currently with both residential and commercial development, and it's only 15 minutes from just about every kind of shopping you want. Bellefontaine has seen much slower growth and is more secluded from the urban setting. It depends on what you are looking for.

It all depends on what you like. Marysville may be a growing city, however that also takes away small town values. Marysville is known for having a more city like atmosphere, but that also comes with the cost of loosing many values, such as good people around you. Bellefontaine has more of a friendly atmosphere. You decide- Stolly Enterprises

True, both towns are nice and also true it depends on what you are looking for. Marysville is a growing city and some of it is not from Honda, however if you are looking to get away from Columbus, Marysville may not be the place to be. Though Marysville is small and has small town values right now this may not be the case in 6 years, seeing as though Marysville not far off from suburban Columbus.
Even with Marysville's rapid growth in the recent years Bellefontaine is not at a loss for growth, 2007 saw the opening for over 5 new businesses to Bellefontaine and also a population rise of over 75 people. You decide - Stolly Enterprises

Some people are used to & like being close to a big city. I'm 'sad' to say, I'm one of them. Hubby would be fine if we lived 100 miles from anything, but, I like being close to grocery stores, gas, etc. But, I also like being 'out there', as I kinda am right now. I vote for Marysville, but, that is me. =) &, it's Bell-fountain for the same reason Greenwich is Green-witch & not Gren-itch, as I called it once, & was yelled at. Same for New Athens, OH. It is pronounced New A (long A) thens, not a (short a) thens, like the college town. Maybe to stand out? =)
