There's only a few movies I know of that are shot in Ohio and most of them are in Cleveland. But I'm going to say the best movie that has scenes shot in Ohio has to be between The Shawshank Redemtion, Major League, or Antwone Fisher..in that order.

The Deer Hunter was partly filmed in Cleveland.
It's an excellent movie and would rank up there as being a classic.
The church used in the movie is Theodosius Russian Orthodox Cathedral.
I'm sure any Clevelander has noticed the huge golden domes of the Cathedral which can be seen from I-90.

The Deer Hunter (1978) - Trivia

And we can't forget A Christmas Story!! Another classic.
It brings back memories as a child of the downtown Cleveland area and all the department stores with the decorated storefronts.

The house was recently renovated by a guy from California to bring it back to what it looked like in the movie.

I'm a fan of John Sayles, so my personal favorites are the two movies he shot in Cincinnati: Eight Men Out, and City of Hope.

But of course, there's A Christmas Story, which I was lucky enough to witness some of its filming on Public Square (the Christmas parade scene outside of Higbee's). It was January or February, and about 50 degrees. No snow anywhere to be found; it had to be trucked in. What irony! LOL

I was in 8th grade when that movie was made, and was sitting in class when the scenes outside of Berry Middle School were filmed.

woxyroxme, way back in 1987 ... 1988 ... whatever ... I went to the 10th anniversary showing of Harper Valley PTA at the Colony Square theater. It was a great idea, but the theater was almost empty. Very surprising.

Silly movie, but it was lots of fun to see since I had recently moved to Lebanon.
