Happy Gilmore was shot all around Cleveland and the one that surprised me was the Deer Hunter. The wedding reception was shot at Saint Theodosius Russian Orthodox Church in the Tremont area of Cleveland.

The exteriors were filmed at the defunct Mansfield State Reformatory in Ohio. The prison was in such poor condition that renovations had to be made prior to filming. However, most the interiors were shot on a sound stage, because they determined it would be cheaper to build duplicates of the interiors rather than renovating the interiors of Mansfield. Traffic
There may have been some scenes shot in Columbus, but Cincinnati was in it as well. The judge's home was owned by an acquaintance of mine, and it's in Hyde Park. The scenes where the daughter is in the drug flop house look like Over The Rhine. The private school the kids attended was a thinly veiled Cincinnati Country Day which took some legal action against the producers until they figured out that the way the school was represented might not be to far from the truth, so they backed off rather than have their laundry aired in a courtroom - or so the legend goes.

Exrvi, you're right - the urban scenes in Traffic were shot in Over-the-Rhine, many of them on East McMicken between Vine and Main. I was working in the old Hudepohl building at 40 E. McMicken at the time, and for a couple of days we were treated to some filmmaking.

Milk Money, Rain Man were in Cincinnati. An Innocent Man with Tom Selleck was filmed at Norwood Junior High School (Cincinnati).
