Most people are really nice and friendly in Ohio. The person on the street did have the right of way in that situation. I wouldn't make a judgment about a state based on one incident.

I understand they had the right of way, but the street is miles long, straight, not a chance in the world they didnt see the guy backing out, (and vice versa) but to drive down the road honking like you forgot your medications was what was so funny/odd about it.
Perhapse that was the reason..

Arghhhhh! These are all of the things I said when I left right out of high school! I hated ohio and went to NYC, then Boulder, co then SoCal, and now I have to come back to help my stubborn folks who wont move!
That unconfrontational racism is so true... bummer! Issa

Call me naive, but I like Ohio. If you want uneducated, racist, and bitterly cold ( not the weather ) try East Tennessee, it will give you a whole new appreciation for your current state. They don't even attempt to hide their disdain for others, it's quite blatant. As for taxes and inflation, try New York City, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, or San Francisco. Most major metropolitan areas are guilty here. Las Vegas, on the other hand may be a good fit for you. The weather is certainly warmer and dryer, the people are pretty friendly ( especially at cocktail hour, lol ) the schools are above average with a couple really good ones, and the property taxes are relatively low. There is no state income tax and entertainment abounds. If you're looking to relocate, maybe sunny Las Vegas is the place for you. There are tons of jobs available and the housing market, as with most of the nation, is at an extreme low so it's a good time to buy.
I've traveled a little and lived on both ends of the country so these are just my thoughts to share. I suppose anyplace is what you make of it, but I hope you enjoy your new home, where ever that may be!

What are you talking about? No one mentioned Denver. This post just proves that you have an agenda and want to start something.

===============================================
-Property taxes are TOO HIGH and grossly out of step with the local economy.
-School systems are in the toilet, yet they keep presenting levies each year to try to put a green band-aid on the issues effecting the schools...and of course that raises the property taxes on an already over-taxed population.
-Sales tax is TOO HIGH, and they are getting ready to raise it again in September. See above statement.
-CRIME: because the economy is in the toilet, people are getting desperate and gangs and violent crime are on the rise.
-Weather: Who needs short summers and long, cold as f*ck winters? I literally get to see my yard in full lush green for 4-5 months before everything begins to turn brown and die. And then here comes the snow...
-Pollution: Ohio, true to its manufacturing, steel belt history, is one of the most polluted states in the Union. 3 out of 7 people in my immediate family have all developed asthma living here.
-The People: Not all, but too many are cold, unfriendly, racist (but in that quiet, unconfrontational way), undereducated...I could go on and on. Most of them don't even make eye contact on the street, let alone say "hello".
-Entertainment: Football, Basketball...College Football, College Basketball...Baseball...and our teams mostly suck.

There it is, my Ohio hate list. Thank God I'll be leaving this hell hole soon.

I always thought well of Ohio, considered part midwest, part east and wondered why the state went for Bush in 2004. I was astounded that a transition had occurred and the state is as you are describing here. No wonder Hillary appears to get the nod here over Obama. It's really quite a shame IMO.
