But I miss four seasons--especially the beautiful fall and spring--great people, unbelievably great music and entertainment (in NE Ohio where I lived), great and diverse restaurants, diverse population, etc.
I have lived several places in the US, and I find that generally each section has its good and bad points. When you live in a place, enjoy the good points. They are different in each place.

You sure don't have to shovel sunshine here in Texas where I currently live, but you've gotta do everything you can to escape it. Summers here are exceptionally brutal; comparable to the Winters up in Ohio.
I was once able to stand the heat better, but as I get older, I'm finding I can't do as much outside as I am accustomed to (and I'm not old). Well, upper 40s, to some that is ancient.

Awesome Jeff! I agree, we're moving back to San Jose, CA next month, only moved because my mom begged us to, kept saying how beautiful it was, ect.. it'd been awhile since we'd lived in OH and took her bait. Biggest mistake of our lives. We're selling our gorgeous house for a very good price just to get the heck out of here! Only thing that sucks about CA is the price of housing, it's about 3-4 times the price of OH.
Good luck to ya! Like I said before, I'm glad that people like OH, like my family. To each their own, I need the sunshine and awesome fresh food... it's just my cup of tea!

Oh, and look at the latest crime rankings. Charlotte is rated the 8th most dangerous big city, Columbus is ranked 9th. Looks like both have to improve a bit in that area, although Charlotte has a little more work cut out for it.

I'm sure they are overwhelmed from taking and continuing to take all the jobs from Ohio so the increase in population, new neighborhoods it puts a strain on a police force. By the way I felt safer in Charlotte than I do here in Columbus, you don't find neighborhoods falling apart all over the place down there or bums laying around everywhere in the streets. There are areas you don't drive into in Columbus day or night, Charlotte I don't recall having to worry about that.

Unless you've lived somewhere else besides the midwest, you don't realize how crappy the weather is. Summer isn't sunny in OH. Go to Portland or CA and you'll see what sunshine is. It's like another world there.

This is exactly the reason I hate living here and regret transferring to Ohio. The winters are horrible, every year I have lived here so far we've got hit with multiple snowstorms and this year had the biggest snowstorm in years. It snowed two days before May this year and it's been cold, rainy, and cloudy since then with a few days here and there of summer time weather.
People get sick and tired of November to May winters, endless cloud cover, and no summer to make up for it. Yesterday June 30th it was a balmy 66 degrees and a cold rain, no wonder I forgot the 4th of July is this week, it feels like Labor Day.

I agree with you, the winters here are gray, dreary, and cold and last way too long. The other day we set a new record, 47 degrees, it's the lowest temperature on record for the day. We only have 137 sunny days per year and it's too cold for me to enjoy being outside for 7 months of the year. Yuck!

I know I am late in the game here....
I also hate OHIO for all the reasons posted here. I actually have to take prescription Vit D to get through the winter from lack of sunlight. I dread another coming winter and at this moment am surfing the web looking for a place to buy in TN so that I have SOMETHING to live for (haha) for the next 10 years until I can relocate to somewhere that has a reasonable seasonal change and not a gray and/or deep freeze for 8 months out of the year.

You're seriously mistaken if you think Ohio is gray and in a deep freeze for 8 months out of the year. It's actually the other way around, and even then I would hesitate to say Ohio is in a deep freeze all Winter.....at least not here in SW Ohio it's not. It's rarely gray around here....the sun shines far more than people realize. Hardly ever a stretch of time lasting more than 2 days when we see all clouds. Quite frequently.....too frequently....our Winters are mild around here, with temps reaching into the mid-50s and even the 60s quite often during the Winter. It's mostly rain in our Winters, and if we do get cold and snow, it usually goes away within a week. I personally wish we WOULD get more cold and snow around here. I love Winter, and miss the ones we used to get around SW Ohio. They just don't happen anymore.
Please don't mislead others with your opinion.

SW and NE Ohio vary quite differently in climates. NE Ohio from about November through March and even into April is gray and cold, but as you pointed out SW Ohio is much milder comparatively speaking. Even still, NE Ohio is about half and half, not 8 months as the other person mentioned. All this said, anywhere in Ohio isn't particularly ideal weather wise, but I would take the SW weather over NE any day and it's not fair to lump it all in.
