There are certainly many of these areas in each MSA. What part of this great state are you looking at, and we would be more than happy to give you some suggestions.
As a side-note, you may want to create a separate thread for this question: it is more likely to gain worthwhile feedback than a sub-post on a "bashing thread."

===============================================
-Property taxes are TOO HIGH and grossly out of step with the local economy.
-School systems are in the toilet, yet they keep presenting levies each year to try to put a green band-aid on the issues effecting the schools...and of course that raises the property taxes on an already over-taxed population.
-Sales tax is TOO HIGH, and they are getting ready to raise it again in September. See above statement.
-CRIME: because the economy is in the toilet, people are getting desperate and gangs and violent crime are on the rise.
-Weather: Who needs short summers and long, cold as f*ck winters? I literally get to see my yard in full lush green for 4-5 months before everything begins to turn brown and die. And then here comes the snow...
-Pollution: Ohio, true to its manufacturing, steel belt history, is one of the most polluted states in the Union. 3 out of 7 people in my immediate family have all developed asthma living here.
-The People: Not all, but too many are cold, unfriendly, racist (but in that quiet, unconfrontational way), undereducated...I could go on and on. Most of them don't even make eye contact on the street, let alone say "hello".
-Entertainment: Football, Basketball...College Football, College Basketball...Baseball...and our teams mostly suck.

There it is, my Ohio hate list. Thank God I'll be leaving this hell hole soon.

Thats because you live around Cleveland, you should move to another part of Ohio, Cleveland is a **** hole, instead of just moving out of Ohio you could try the Columbus area or Cincinnati, yeah Ohio may have problems but there is more goods than bads, OHIO STATE BUCKEYES thats all i'm saying

After reading this thread,I thought I would give my opinion.I live in the Marietta area(Washington county) We are taxed at 7.5% now, with too many to count levies assesed on property as well. Our public utilities commission has allowed prices to jump aprox 200% in the last 4-5 yrs,far outpacing inflation and energy costs to produce and maintain a viable transmission network. We have some of the highest fuel prices in our region(statewise) with some of the WORST ROADS I HAVE EVER DRIVEN.Pollution here is unreal(I believe worst in 5 state region) The only jobs are min wage or decent wages in a toxic waste dump chemical plant or welfare. Our state troopers are on a drug bust, sppeding thing, ignoring the fact people arent even stopping at red lights and tailgating you so bad you cant see their headlights.CLOSED PRIMARIES yes,its true. This state even regulates WHO you can vote for.Schools ARE NOT FUNDED PROPERLY even the supreme court agreed STILL NOT FIXED.Voinovich and Taft have handed our new Gov a mess,so much so that he stated fixing it will cost him ANY chance at re election.Red tape operating a business here is bizzare. It took almost 6 months for the state to decide if I needed a vendors lic. or not.And the HUD mess.Since this part of the state is underdeveloped,HUD is renting NICE family homes for welfare trash because there isnt enough public housing. So now they have 5 cars and a pile of trash as big as a garage living in the middle of our street(working class neighborhood)GET THIS HEAP IS BUYING THEIR FIREWOOD!!! Leaves plenty for a crack habit.OHIO IS A WELFARE MAGNET

Remember the saying "The grass is always greener on the other side". This is so true until to reach the other side. I had to move to New York state 25 years ago and you think your taxes are bad I have to pay over $8000.00 real estate taxes a year for less than 1/2 acre of land with a 3 bedroom house on a street with on lights, sidewalks, sewers, or city water. I have to pay to have my septic tank emptied + TAXES. A sales tax is pushing close to 9%. So I sure you find what your looking for. I hope I can get back to Ohio were people still are much friendlier than most New Yorkers. The other day I held to door open for a person with their hand full and did I get a thank you no they looked at me and said "don't expect anything from me, your a fool". And by the way gasoline prices here are running about $3.30 a gal. now and heating oil is over $3.50 a gal. "And you think Ohio is so EXPENSIVE.

Ohio is generally a bully-type area...that's the culture here, more so than average as compared to other states....I don't recommend Ohio.....look elsewhere.

Wow its bad that you take your opinion and base them off facts, its fine to base your opinion, but to try and make Ohio sound like some terrible place because you have had problems that get faced anywhere, like rude people, that is ridiculous. Columbus is a very friendly city, sorry you had problems there.

Its funny that you mention this. I'm moving to Ohio and last week when I was at our new home, I was watching someone back out of their driveway, and another individual pulling up the street. Rather then the person comin gup the street slowing down so the person could pull out of their driveway, they honked like an idiot. All I could do is shake my head over the ignorance.

Assuming you're not on a rinky dink 10-15 mph private drive where breaking is no problem and the driver was going the proper speed limit, oncoming traffic has the ROW in this situation. What's so ignorant about that? You're supposed to watch for oncoming traffic and yield before you back out. The driver backing out will be cited if an accident occurs.
So then, are you supposed to come to a dead stop from 25-35mph (or higher) when some crackerjack decides to throw it in reverse and roll off his blacktop without looking? Is that being friendly these days? I share the road, but that's not courtesy; that's just unsafe. Even more so if I have someone behind me who doesn't have the visibility I do.
