Miami is great if you are into average people thinking themselves elite. It is a very left-brained kind of place.

/yeah i'm an OU grad
//really, it is a totally fine school.

When OSU was still open enrollment, Miami was considered to have the best academics of any Ohio public U. It's more debatable now.

The University of Cincinnati blew Miami away in academics back when OSU was open enrollment (and still does today). The primary reason for going to Miami was the party atmosphere.

I never went to Miami, but I'm not sure where you got that impression. Aren't you from Michigan?

Geez, page 2 until Akron got mentioned? lol
Akron is a quality school. Very forward thinking. They were the first University in the country to have the entire campus covered with a wifi network.

OU's party school rep is overblown...mainly by its own students.

Its a beautiful school with a phenomenal journalism program, but I wouldn't necessarily consider it for anything else as compared to at least OSU, UC, and Miami.

I would choose Miami hands down, I think it would be the most fun out of any and has arguably the best academic rep

Biased as I may be (OU class of '11), this is certainly not true if weeds is interested in communication (while it is in other areas).

Like others in this thread, I was able to study my field (also comm -- television production), and find plenty of entertainment for cheap or free around town. It is fairly disconnected from any urban center, which I didn't see as a major downside, because it has its own flavor.

Narrow it down to a couple of choices based on academic reputation and what you're looking for (huge and urban, greenspace, etc.), and visit them. Having been on the campuses of OU, OSU, Miami, Kent, Akron, and CSU, I think it is fair to say each have their own flavor, and you'll probably feel at home at one of them.

Weeds: What part of communication are you looking at studying, and what sort of factors are you looking for (urban/rural, green space, etc.)?

That's definitely true. When I say 'reputation', I was referring to the uneducated opinion of the average Ohioan. We are definitely in agreement, to decide which school is the 'best' depends primarily on your intended major.

Yep. I can't tell you how many times someone has messaged me on this site saying something like "why do hate ksu??" Many people on these forums just assume I'm a disgruntled ex-Kent student.
