Just curious to hear from people in Ohio as to what your respective city is doing in terms of development. It could be urban or suburban or both, and I am hoping to hear from more than just Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati. So often the state's smaller cities are ignored in this regard, so I'd like to hear what they are doing as well.

For Columbus, here are some of the totals as of today. Totals are in million.

Total Development 2000-2015 (that I have found): $13,680.7

Total Development 2011-2015: $8,524.50

Downtown Development 2000-2015: $7,955.40

Downtown Development 2011-2015: $5,876.20

Major projects 2000-2015 and the costs, status, and info:

1. Wet Weather Management Program/Project Clean Rivers
Cost: $2.5 billion
Status: Under construction, potential completion by 2015.
Info: Upgrade and expansion of pollution and wastewater controls, particularly along the Scioto River near and around Downtown. This will significantly lower or eliminate sewage runoff into the Scioto and Olentangy rivers, as well as reducing pollution and unpleasant smells that occasionally permeate the immediate river area. Improvements made to this point have already increased water quality and have allowed endangered fish species to return.

2. I-70/I-71 Split Rebuild
Cost: $1.6 billion
Status: Under construction, Phase 1 completion by 2013.
Info: Phase 1 of the Downtown highway project reworks the I-71/670 split. Later phases will rework 70/71 all the way back to 71/315. Several highway caps will be built that include landscaping and will be built to support future retail development, similar to the 670 retail cap that already exists in the Short North.

3. Arena District
Cost: $1.1 billion
Status: Complete
Info: Entertainment district just north and west of Downtown. Major construction is complete, but other projects in the general area have been announced or have started that are listed separately.

4. OSU Medical Center Expansion
Cost: $1.1 billion
Status: Under construction, completion by 2014.
Info: 20-story medical tower on Campus near Rt. 315.

5. Easton Town Center
Cost: $1 billion
Status: Complete, although smaller additions/reworks continue to be added.
Info: Outdoor shopping complex on the city's east side, north of the airport. The 3 population tracts in this area grew between 37% and 142% since 2000 alone.

6. Nationwide Children's Hospital Expansion
Cost: $840 million
Status: Under construction, completion by 2012.
Info: 3-building complex, 12, 10, and 6-story buildings, expanding the hospital into the 2nd largest pediatrics center in the nation.

7. Port Columbus Expansion/Improvements
Cost: $600 million
Status: Complete
Info: Upgrades to terminals and reworking Stelzer Road.

8. Columbus Casino
Cost: $400 million
Status: Under construction, completion by 2012.
Info: To be one the largest casinos built and owned by Penn National in the country. Existing costs include only the casino, but the site is large enough that a hotel and garages are being considered for future expansions.

9. OSU Campus Housing Project
Cost: $335 million
Status: Under construction, completion perhaps by 2015.
Info: Complete rebuild/expansion of North Campus housing near Lane Avenue and High.

10. Polaris Fashion Place
Cost: $200 million
Status: Completed 2001, although the area continues to develop.
Info: Large indoor shopping complex on the city's far northern suburbs.

11. Columbus Zoo Expansion
Cost: $200 million
Status: Under construction, completion perhaps by 2015. Three new areas have already been added since 2003, along with the Wyandotte Lake-Zoombezi Bay conversion and expansion. A resort hotel and further expansions to the zoo are planned.

12. Convention Center Hilton Hotel
Cost: $175 million
Status: Under construction, completion by 2012.
Info: This 12-story, 532 room hotel across from the convention center will be one of the largest hotels in the city.

13. South Campus High Rise Renovations
Cost: $172 million
Status: Under construction, completion by 2012
Info: The OSU campus is doing just about a full campus dorm/residential renovation/expansion project. This is part of the southern area.

14. Miranova Condo Tower Complex
Cost: $150 million
Status: Completed in 2001
Info: 26-story residential building on the riverfront in the southern end of Downtown.

15. Franklin County Courthouse
Cost: $150 million
Status: Completed in 2011.
Info: 7-story building and plaza built on a vacant, suface parking lot off of South High Downtown.

16. Bicentennial Bikeways Plan
Cost: $144 million
Status: Under construction, completion by 2012.
Info: This is a city-wide bikeways program designed to build connections and extensions with bikeways throughout the city. The plan calls for over 500 miles of bike paths, converted rails, bridges, and bike lanes by 2012.

17. Franklinton Floodwall
Cost: $140 million
Status: Completed in 2004
Info: This floodwall took about 10 years and protects one of Columbus' oldest and most vulnerable neighborhoods. A little-known fact is that, prior to the completion of this project, it was illegal to build any new construction or renovate existing buildings in the area due to federal government regulations on floodplains. It would take another 5 years for serious interest in the area to begin.

18. Water Treatment Plant Expansions
Cost: $106 million
Status: Completed in 2010
Info: Improved environmental controls and increased capacity to cover city growth for the next 100 years.

19. Grandview Yard
Cost: $100+ million
Status: Under construction, completion perhaps by 2015.
Info: This is a mixed-use project built on an old industrial site just west of the Arena District. It includes residential, retail, and office space. The site is only about 10% built at the moment.

20. Grange Insurance Expansion
Cost: $100 million
Status: Completed in 2009.
Info: Grange Insurance expanded their headquarters in the Brewery District just south of Downtown by adding a 10-story connector building to what already existed.

21. Neighborhood Launch Residential Complex
Cost: $100 million
Status: Under construction, perhaps completion by 2015
Info: 300 unit residential complex being built near and along E. Gay Street Downtown, almost exclusively on surface parking lots.

22. RiverSouth condo/residential complex and street improvements
Cost: Up to $100 million
Status: Residential is complete, street work continues, completion by 2012.
Info: This large residential complex is Downtown across from the Lazarus Building. Most of the streets in the area are also getting rebuilt with brick pavers, new sidewalks, planters, landscaping, and signs.

23. Ohio Supreme Court Renovations
Cost: $85 million
Status: Completed in 2004
Info: This large Downtown complex received environmental upgrades and overall renovations.

24. Northland Site Redevelopment
Cost: $80 million
Status: Under construction, perhaps completed by 2015.
Info: The site of the former Northland Mall, being redeveloped with retail, office, and residential space.

25. Mount Carmel West Expansion
Cost: $80 million
Status: Completed in 2007
Info: Expansion of garages and office space for the hospital located in Franklinton.

26. Columbus Coated Fabrics Site Redevelopment
Cost: $80 million
Status: Under construction, perhaps completed by 2015.
Info: This large former industrial site near Weinland Park will be converted to a mixed-used residential complex.

27. Harrison West Residential Development
Cost: Up to $75 million
Status: Under construction, completion by 2012.
Info: Large residential housing complex west of Victorian Village.

28. Norfolk-Southern Intermodal Expansion
Cost: $63 million
Status: Completed in 2008
Info: Based at Rickenbacher, this intermodal increased its capacity more than 50%.

29. Main Street Bridge
Cost: $60.1 million
Status: Completed in 2011
Info: Connection southern Downtown to Franklinton, this curved road bridge has a large pedestrian walkway and arch, one of only 5 of its kind in the world.

30. Gowdy Field Redevelopment
Cost: $60+ million
Status: Completed in 2010
Info: A large strip of vacant land located just west of Rt 315, this site has been filled with OSU medical center expansions, as well as office buildings for Time Warner.

31. Franklin Park Conservatory Expansion
Cost: $60 million
Status: Under construction, perhaps completed by 2015
Info: Located between Bexley and Downtown on the East Side, the conservatory is expanding many of its buildings and improving landscaping throughout the park.

32. Downtown Lazarus Building Renovations
Cost: $60 million
Status: Completed in 2008
Info: The 100+ year old Lazarus Building was converted to office and retail space and is now home to the Ohio EPA.

33. CSX Corp Intermodal Expansion
Cost: $59 million
Status: Under construction, completion by 2012.
Info: Project located on the West Side, will dramatically increase capacity.

34. Huntington Park Baseball Stadium
Cost: $56 million
Status: Completed in 2009
Info: The new home of the Columbus Clippers west of the Arena District, this stadium was voted the #1 best new or renovated ballpark in the country when it opened. The Clippers have since won the AAA National Championship in 2010 and 2011.

35. North Bank Condo Tower
Cost: $50 million
Status: Completed in 2008
Info: This 20-story condo tower was built on the Scioto River bank west of the Arena District.

36. The Joseph Boutique Hotel and Garage
Cost: $50 million
Status: Under construction beginning later this fall/winter, completion by 2012.
Info: This 10-story hotel project fills two surface parking lots just north of the 670 cap in the Short North. The hotel will be on the west side of High and a parking garage will be on the east side.

37. Brewers Gate Condo Complex
Cost: $50 million
Status: Completed in 2003
Info: This large residential complex is in the southwestern area of the Brewery District.

38. Columbia Gas Building
Cost: $50 million
Status: To begin construction 2012, completion by 2014.
Info: A 5-story building to be built across from Huntington Baseball Stadium near the Arena District, it will serve as Columbia's new headquarters.

39. Scioto Mile
Cost: $44 million
Status: Completed in 2011
Info: This new riverfront park links up North Bank Park near the Arena District all the way south the the new Scioto-Audubon Metro Park near the Brewery District. It features a pedestrian promenade, a restored historic concrete riverfront balustrade, a restored riverbank, swings, fountains, a large restaurant, and several 25-foot water features that people can play in.

40. South Campus Gateway
Cost: $40 million
Status: Completed in 2005
Info: A residential, retail, and entertainment complex located on High Street south of the OSU Campus.

41. Lennox Apartment Complex
Cost: $40 million
Status: Under construction, completion by 2012.
Info: A large residential complex located near Lennox Town Center just west of Rt 315.

42. Cooper Stadium Racing Complex
Cost: $40-$50 million
Status: In planning, perhaps completion by 2013.
Info: Located at the site of Cooper Stadium west of Downtown, this complex would include a track and auto reseach center. Construction could begin as early as early 2012.

43. Goodale Park Condo Complex
Cost: $40 million
Status: Completed in 2007
Info: A large residential complex located between Park and High Streets in the Short North.

44. Columbus Museum of Art Expansion
Cost: $40+ million
Status: Completed in 2011
Info: Renovated several existing spaces and expanded the size of the museum.

45. Police Headquarters Renovations
Cost: $32 million
Status: Under construction, completion by 2012
Info: The old police headquarters building downtown has been largely abandoned for years, but is finally being renovated and updated for use.

46. Liberty Place Apartments
Cost: $30 million
Status: Completed in 2006
Info: Located off of 4th east of Italian Village, this was part of a sprawling site that is still largely empty.

47. Scioto-Audubon Metro Park
Cost: $30 million
Status: Initial construction completed in 2010
Info: Located on a peninsula just south of Downtown, the new park has a nature center, trails, river walkways, and the largest free outdoor climbing wall in the country. Not all of the land has yet been developed, and the city is coming up with plans for the rest.

48. 582 W. Goodale Apartment Complex
Cost: $30 million
Status: Under construction, completion by 2012.
Info: Large residential complex west of Victorian Village.

49. Hotel Indigo
Cost: $30 million
Status: Construction to begin sometime 2012, with completion by late year.
Info: Downtown buildings off of Broad to be converted to hotel space.

50. Burnham Square Condos
Cost: $28 million
Status: Completed in 2004
Info: Downtown condo conversion.

51. Rich Street Bridge
Cost: $26 million
Status: Under construction, completion by 2012
Info: Located just north of the new Main Street Bridge, it connects the area of the Scioto Mile to Franklinton.

52. Nationwide Expansion
Cost: $26 million
Status: Under construction, completion late 2012
Info: New 5-story building on the corner of Front and Marconi Downtown, to house 1000 Nationwide employees that are moving their offices from the suburbs.

53. Flats on Vine
Cost: $25 million
Status: Completed in 2010
Info: Residential buildings located east of Neil Avenue near the Arena District.

54. Seneca Hotel Renovations
Cost: $25 million
Status: Completed in 2010
Info: This Downtown historic hotel had been abandoned for years before being renovated into residential units.

55. 8 on the Square
Cost: $22 million
Status: Completed in 2008
Info: Located on the corner of Broad and High Downtown, this development including the renovation of historic buildings, retail space, and a television studio.

56. Columbus College of Art and Design Expansion/Improvements
Cost: $21 million
Status: Completed in 2011
Info: New dorms and improvements for the campus located in the eastern secions of Downtown.

57. Battelle Hall Renovation
Cost: $20 million
Status: Completed in 2009

58. Columbus Commons
Cost: $20 million
Status: Completed in 2011
Info: Once the site of City Center Mall Downtown, this new park features large greenspace, paths, an outdoor library, restaurant and carousel. A stage and perhaps a new restaurant are to be built in 2012 on the north side of the park.

59. One West Rich Condos
Cost: $19.5 million
Status: Completed in 2005
Info: Downtown condo conversion.

60. Atlas Building Renovations
Cost: $15 million
Status: Construction set to begin this winter, completion by 2012.
Info: 100 year old Downtown tower on North High will be converted to residential units.

61. LeVeque Tower Renovations
Cost: Up to $15 million
Status: Construction set to begin late this year, completion by 2012.
Info: Columbus' most famous skyscraper and once the city's tallest building, is set to have a renovation to fix the aging exterior and to convert upper floors to residential.

62. LC Pavillion
Cost: $15 million
Status: Completed in 2009
Info: Concert and entertainment venue located next to Huntington Baseball Stadium.

63. Buggyworks Condos
Cost: $13 million
Status: Completed in 2005
Info: Condo complex located west of the Arena District. A second phase with a large residential tower was planned before the economic crash. There are rumors this may eventually still happen.

64. 60 E. Spring Condos
Cost: $13 million
Status: Completed in 2005
Info: Downtown condo conversion.

65. Huntington Bank Renovations
Cost: $12 million
Status: Completed in 2004
Info: Downtown bank headquarters updated.

66. ConneXions Lofts
Cost: $11 million
Status: Completed in 2004
Info: One of the first residential buildings completed under the 2002 Downtown housing plan to have 10,000 new residential units built by 2012.

67. Lofts at 106
Cost: $10 million
Status: Completed in 2006
Info: Downtown condo conversion.

68. Brunson Building Renovation/Expansion
Cost: $10 million
Status: Completed in 2005
Info: 10-story addition added to the historic Brunson Building Downtown with full conversion to residential.

69. Carlyle's Watch
Cost: $10 million
Status: Completed in 2008
Info: New 8-story Downtown condo and apartment building near Gay Street.

70. Athletic Club Renovation
Cost: $10 million
Status: Completed in 2009
Info: A historic Downtown club had extensive interior renovations.

71. FBI Building
Cost: $10 million
Status: Construction to begin late year, perhaps open sometime 2012.
Info: This new building will be constructed west of the Arena District not far from Huntington Park.

This is a partial list, as I tried to keep it just to projects $10 million or over, and there are at least as many projects in the $5-$9.9 million range. There are also at least a few large projects that don't have costs attached, such as the plan to build hundreds of residential units west of Huntington Park near Downtown that was just announced within the last month.

I'm not too sure about pre - 2008 development for Cleveland, but this video highlights a ton of stuff underconstruction and breaking ground soon:
