Default omg moving to warren

Hello, We are most likely moving to Warren or Youngstown.
My husband will be working in PA. Ohio is less expensive to live in.
Kids are grown, we love good restaurants, culture, good shopping.
Help please. Maybe we should stay in PA, not hearing much good
about Warren/Youngstown Thank you

The area is just fine. The natives are often just overly negative. (This is a common problem throughout the midwest/rust belt.)

What kind of neighborhood are you looking for? If you're looking for suburban or rural, others will be along shortly to let you know what they like or dislike about the various areas around the metro. If you want to live within the city limits of Warren, Cortlandgirl can tell you what are good and bad neighborhoods. If you want to live within the city limits of Youngstown, I can help you out.

Warren is ok. Not real bad or real good. I grew up and spent my first 35 years in Warren / Akron area. The big thing about the area is the lack of jobs and jobs leaving the area. One of the biggest employers is GM/Delphi and that has been downsizing since 1998. But since you already have employment.... not such a big deal - other than possible less desirable neighborhood / crime / etc

Warren does have great Italian and Greek restaurants. Most restaurants are local own versus the chain stores.

Depending on what you like for shopping - the area is not bad, but if you're looking for high end, then trips to Cleveland, Pittsburgh etc will need to happen.

Again, if you're looking at saving money on mortgage payment - Warren isn't too bad. For me (in my 30's) my opinion is that Warren is a great place to grow up or settle down - but not necessarily a great place to make a living - but then again - a lot less cost of living...

You don't actually have to live in Youngstown or Warren if you're afraid of those two cities. There are safe areas of both of those cities, but there is a lot of poverty and crime. Northeast Warren is still in good shape and there are some great older homes there. I guess we need a little more information. Are you going to rent or buy first? Price range? Do you have kids and are schools important? How close do you want to be to certain amenities? etc.....

There is a building somewhere in Youngstown that says "YOU CAN CHANGE YOUNGSTOWN"...My family lives there and have for over 30 years...it's definitely worth a try if you ask me.
