Michigan has one of the worst economies in the country outside of some of the Sunbelt states like Florida and California.

Even Florida's economy is better than Michigan's. But just like Michigan, Florida is reliant on one or two industries. Retirees and tourism.

I saw the same thing in Anderson Township several weeks ago. Then I went to Middletown and was shocked by all of the the boarded-up buildings downtown.

Is that why you are moving to Mexico?

Because of Michigan's bad economy? That would make no sense.

Everyone of us knows we're gonna miss this guy... No, seriously! Who we gonna gang up and pick on when jbcmh81 departs for Mexico? {It's gonna be a cruel day in hell for all of us, but I guess we all deserved it...)

It's not even close to the scale going on in Michigan. Nice try though. I was glad my company gets me rental cars because I hit a massive crater in Lansing, and could feel the car pulling all the way back home. Shame, we are in the U.S. and you would think driving in Michigan you were in Ukraine.

I guess you'll just have Forbes to fight from now on.

On a serious note, I will miss Ohio very much.

I would say Akron is, remember we're talking about which represents the whole state of Ohio the best. A lot of people voted for the 3 Cs but I would say each is an extreme for the state.

Akron and the immediate Akron MSA (not so much the entire Cleveland-Akron CSA) appear to be right near a lot of the state averages. The area is growing at a slow pace, a lot like Ohio as a whole.

Also, none of those cities under "rural" are actually rural. For maybe a few of them the area as a whole is rural, but not the city. Even Steubenville and Portsmouth are very urban in the city.
