i was born in kenton and i find this fascinating. i appreciate kenton more now that i have moved to the big city. i wish the downtown area didnt have so many empty store fronts. i would like to see some cafes or boutiques come in and fill them up. maybe they could market to the university over in ada or to some of the folks in columbus looking to unwind. kenton is small and friendly like you mentioned, but there is even more potential.

Kenton Ohio
I Am About To Move To Kenton Ohio And I'm So Looking Forward To It. I Was Raised In Lima Many Years Ago And Have Very Good Memories Of It But It Sure Isn't What It Was Then.. Now I Still Go Back To See Family And It Makes Me Sad That They Have Fallen On Such Hard Times. I Am Now In Michigan, Again Very Hard Times But Also Great Memories Of Long Ago But I Still Love It. Love Those Tigers!!! Anyway, If Small Towns Are In Your Blood I Don't Think It Ever Leaves And The Farming Areas Are The Greatest.. Now, You Can Not Judge A Whole State By A Few Areas, Detroit And Some Cities Here Are High In Crime But Where We Are It Is Very Low.. Just Check It All Out, Go On Line And Compare Two Citys And See What They Are About, Such As: Cost Of Living, Crime, Taxes And So On.. Everything I Have Seen About Kenton Has Been Great And I Am So Excited..

You said that you were interested in Wilimington, Well i'm from Sabina which is about 9 miles east of Wilmington on US 22 and 3. Sabina is much more of the small town feel than Wilmington. There are about 2,900 people and its a nice safe layed back community. There are plenty of affordable houses in the area. Whats nice is that you can be in wilmington in about 10 min's. Also its within an hour or less to Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus. Its a nice area, only being like 7 miles off of Interstate 71. The town has a police dept. with about 5 fulltime officers, a good fire dept., health care center, pharmacy, grocery store, family dollar, video store, 3 gas stations, library, park, bank, carwash, 3 factorys, and several smaller businesses. Its in the East Clinton Local School Dist. There is about 1,800 students in the district. Sabina Elementary is a good school k-5 with about 400 kids. The high school and Middle school is about 5 miles outside of town. Here are some websites www.sabina2000.org, www.sabinalibrary.com, www.eastclinton.com Hope this helps and please concider Sabina, we're always welcoming new faces

Also Sabina is home to New Sabina Industries Inc., which employees over 550 people. Pennent Moldings and Palm Harbor Homes both employ 200 to 250 people. About 11 miles west is ABX Air Inc. which is located in Wilmington. Its a airhub and sort center and provides about 11,000 jobs to people who travel there thoughout southwest Ohio. The area is a growing area but has the small town feel with the city conviences located nearby. Some area events and activities include Sabina Labor Day Parade, Sabina Heritage Days, Clinton County Fair, Cowan Lake State Park, Deer Creek State Park, Snow Hill Country Club, Adventure Cove Putt-Putt golf, Prime Outlet Mall(about 10-15 mins away) Kings Island Amusement park is only about 50 min away or less.

I strongly urge you to look at Troy Ohio. It is the county (Miami) seat and we have a beautiful old court house and active historical district that is pure archetectural eye candy, and the city square has a beautiful fountain in the center. There is a very active downtown association that has been working for years to rejuvenate and encourage business and restoration. One of the best Itallian restaurants you will ever find in the world, La Piazza, run by an Itallian family the Anticollis offer recipes brought over from Italy by the family over a hundred years ago. The Miami river runs through the town and the levee has been developed into a scenic paradise which features a world reknowned festival every year, the Troy Strawberry Festival. We are right off of I-75 and 30 minutes north of Dayton and 90 minutes north of Cincinatti. I can't even count the parks we have so many. The Hobart family has for many many years donated money and property for the use of the city. We have a strong, updated and well supported school system, an indoor ice arena, and most of all friendly people. Many people here are interesting and educated but down to earth and love their community. Do try to investigate I think you will be convinced!
OH btw, here is a link you can click on and see for yourself for Troy Ohio

Small towns
Wooster is a nice town although it has grown in recent years it is still not a big city by any means. The downtown has been revitalized and looks great. The schools are good and the high school offers a lot of opportunities for kids. I lived there my entire life until we moved to Jeromesville a couple years ago. Jeromesville is a small, small town and I love it. It isn't a long drive to Mansfield, Wooster, Ashland and Columbus and Cleveland aren't that far either. Good luck in your search. We are selling our home now to move South Carolina. I will miss my country house on seven acres but we are down sizing and moving to the warmer climate.
