We are in the midst of a revitalization. Orrville is one of a handful of towns across Ohio that are part of the Ohio Main Street program. We have received grants to revitalize our downtown and improvements are evident everywhere. Our downtown is becoming quite quaint these days. If you are looking to open up a little store, come on back and open one downtown. We have plenty of industry and our own electric company too!
Contrary to some statistics you might come across, Orrville is virtually crime free. It is a very safe town. I am prone to take walks in the middle of the night and have never been accosted in any way. I don't know where they got their statistics from because I'm sure if any serious crime happened it would be the talk of the town. There are no such thing as home invasions here, no carjackings and no murder. I feel completely safe here in Orrville.
We have a beautiful park with a creek running through it that holds concerts in the summer and abound with ballfields. We have great schools, in fact they just built a new school. There is a boys and girls club that caters the youth. Your kids can even go there while they wait for you to get off work. This is a wonderful place to raise children.
You are just 20 minutes away from all the shopping in Wooster and close to Canton, Cleveland and Akron. Orrville is not a mecca for shopping but they like to keep it that way. I can sit on my front porch and watch Amish buggies clipclopping down the street. They come in to go to our grocery stores. A very short drive takes you right into the heart of Amish country and its breathtakingly beautiful.
Nearby Kidron is a mecca for the Amish and there you have Lehmans, the largest old fashioned hardware store in the world. They have been selling hard to get non electric items since the 50s. They started out catering to the Amish's needs. Refer to Lehmans.com to see what I'm talking about.
Kidron also has weekly livestock auctions and an outdoor flea market where Amish and "Englishers" mingle. All around the area you can get locally made Swiss cheese and bulk food stores abound. One of the simplest pleasures around here is to take a country drive and get lost in Amish country. Marvel at the beauty of the well kept farms, see beautiful draft horses and dairy cows in the pasture. You'll see the Amish working teams of horses in the field. Okay now your turn fellow Orrville residents, help me explain why living in here is so great!

I don't know if you are a realtor or do the PR for your Orrville Chamber of Commerce, but you're doing a great job! I'm ready to sell my home and move there....sounds like a lovely place to live.

You know since I've moved South, all I ever hear about is how good Southern food is....well it ain't, it's ok.....No one and I mean no one can beat the Amish, hands down, no question, ain't even an argument. I often wonder when the Southerners talk about how great their food is (runny grits??? LOL) if any of them have ever had Amish food that is not only from scratch, it's like it was picked from the garden that day fresh.
I miss good food. I miss the Amish counties. Always said I will retire there when I finally retire for good. Absolutely the most beautiful country I've ever seen in my travels across the USA. It's so green it's like a crayola crayon.

Small community southern part of Summit County Manchester. Perfect fit.
Many one story homes, many with more than 1 acre yards. No shopping, no traffic, clean and safe. 25 minutes from Akron, 25 minutes from Canton.

Massillon ohio is a small town, it's in Stark County, Home of the TIGERS. (this town revolves around football) It's close to Akron/Canton. Canton is actually the next town over. There are a lot of nice lil villages outside of massillon. (canal fulton, beach city, navare, brewster, n.lawrence). Right outside of massillon in almost any direction is a lot of land and quiet communitys. Head north from massillon and you'll run into a lot of farm lands.Actually either way you'll run into farm lands. I prefer Canal Fulton or N. Lawrence area compared to the others. No real reason....

Bellevue has a lot more than Port Cliinton and Castalia. I am shoxed you would say something like that. You cant consider the whole town to be unfriendly just because you met a couple you didnt like. I would definitely recommend Bellevue. It has only 8,000 people so it's not to big, they have good schools, and athletic programs, people are friendly. Although the downtown does need some work, the houses and neighborhoods of Bellevue are really nice to look at. Other than all that Bellevue is very cheap to live in. 2 apartment complex's that go off your wages.

I know you're new to the forums, so I'll say "Welcome to City-Data"... ...but you may want to consider the original dates of the posts you are quoting before responding. That person hasn't posted since October 2007, and only has a total of 7 posts which were all made on the same day back then. So chances are he's not going to read this, and no doubt the OP (original poster) has already moved on since it has been 3 years since this thread was started.
I welcome you to contribute to the other discussions we have going. I just don't want you to feel ignored if the people you are responding to in this thread don't reply back.

LOL...Bellevue is not more friendly (or not) then anywhere else in Northern Ohio. To be honest, many folks there don't like outsiders and never have.
PC has some issues right now, I won't deny that...but to say that Bellevue is any better is all a matter of perspective...and a skewed one at that.
