There is another top school district near Kettering that people haven't mentioned yet: Sugarcreek schools (Bellbrook and Sugarcreek township). Bellbrook is east of Centerville and south of Beavercreek and kind of blends into those two larger towns.
Oakwood, Centerville (including Washington township), Beavercreek, Bellbrook/Sugarcreek and Springboro all offer top notch schools and are nice burbs near Kettering. Centerville and Beavercreek are larger school districts with 7000-8000 students total, Oakwood and Sugarcreek are smaller with 2000-2500 total students. Springboro is sort of in the middle with around 5000 students.
