Stryker, OH
Visited Stryker, OH, which may well have been named for an ancestor. A quiet, whistle-stop town, established 1853, the first to be surveyed along the rail line there. Police chief and patrolman were very friendly and accomodating once they understood why I was taking pictures all over town. Same with the clerks in hte Stryker Quick Stop and Citgo gas station. Thanks for the Stryker memorabilia!

^I have never heard of Stryker, Ohio. Where is it located? In the south, north, east or west part of the state? Is it around any large metro areas? It sounds like an interesting town.

Stryker is a small, very rural community in Williams County in Northwest Ohio. It is about 45 minutes west of Toledo and just a little farther than that east of Fort Wayne. The people there seem to be very proud of their community and they are currently planning their new school facilities. One thing that Stryker can claim to fame, it is the home of William Knight, one of the Union Engineers in the Civil War campaign that is the basis for the movie "The Great Locomotive Chase"

Stryker can also claim the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio, which is what most Toledoans think of when they hear the word Stryker, but it's a great little town.

Believe it or not my aunt manages that station and my aunt and cousin both work there. I graduated from school there, great school. Menards is building a distribution center about 25 min from stryker. Easy country drive, will offer many higher paying jobs.

When I was a "Local Driver" based at our Dayton-area terminal, I picked up at the Ferro Corporation on a regular basis. Really nice town and it was a real treat to talk with the nice folks in Ferro's Shipping Office!
