Eh, isn't Columbus' casino in a very suburban part of the city? Perhaps that's more attractive to the older crowd, but it seems rather yawn-inducing to me. Although it is fitting given Columbus' style of growth over the past century or so.
The Cincinnati metro has had casinos for years. They've long been a part of the city's fabric.

Well I am blown away that the Toledo Casino opened with a whimper. Really?
Day 1 of the CLE casino opening there were 50 articles about it on 30 different websites. Talking about the crowds, the excitement.
Toledo? Nothing.
Do a Google News Search. Go to the Toledo Blade homepage. Home - Toledo Blade
Nothing.
Everything on Google news talks about what will happen when it opens. Pulling business from Detroit.
But ZERO about opening day.
Wow.
Were there crowds?
Did people like it?
Nothing. Crickets.
Couldn't be more disappointed.

wtf Toledo?

LOVE that Jamie Farr was there.
But really... it tooks 3 minutes of poking around to find a story about this. Casino just no big deal in the TOL?

Well, I saw at least 4 articles on the Toledo Blade's website about the opening on the day it opened, along with dozens in the days leading up to it.

There was plenty of buzz about the casino opening in Toledo. I happened to be there and it was all over the news and in the Blade.

There were plenty of crowds. I-75 was a cluster all week with traffic backed up trying to get into the place. Besides that, they ran out of places to park. The casino averaged around 16,000 visitors per day for the week.

The same can be said for the new racino in Columbus which also drew large numbers but they had some technical problems on opening day.
