Default Here are my ideas for Ohio

Game developer. Ohio needs a great game develop. Lots of money in video games. Lots of diversity and fun people. Good work atmosphere. Kids love video games. So do adults. Possibly get the jump on virtual reality or something similar.

Chloroplast solar battery storage?(invention)

Underground speed of sound transit cars. All pre-calculated to ensure safe arrival. Imagine going from Cincinnati to Cleveland in about fifteen to twenty minutes. That would be revolutionary.

Heavy involvement with research for a permanent moon colony to launch further endeavors in to deep space. mars will be inhabited. Its just about who gets their first.

Nano research and robotics. Nano is the future. Robotics will go hand and hand with that.

Safe way to accelerate bio-matter growth for plants and organic matter. Imagine giant plants. Huge tomato's grown in hyper-baric chambers with genetic sequences unlocked to make rapid growth.

Hyper-baric medicinal treatments and physician visits. It cures a lot of nagging ailments and increases circulation big time.

Increased oxygen for homes. Maintaining higher levels of oxygen in family homes. Below whatever is flammable but up to a certain percent tht is good for the human body and mind. That means stronger minds and bodies. Stronger immune systems.

New road alternatives. Asphalt isn't enviroment friendly and its to expensive. If anything cut out parking lots with asphalt and just put packed sand in it. There's plenty of sand in the world and its cheaper.

Using algae for energy generation or hydrogen generation. Its green gold! if anything just produce hydrogen. Someone will find uses for it and buy it up.

Ohio needs a state wide beautification program that can employ a lot of people to go around and fix up the state. Plant tons of trees and flowers. Bring in many exotic trees that could grow there naturally without the need for further care.

Good ATV courses. ATV's are just flat out fun.

Ohio should have walking trails that go around the entire state.

Miniature micro managed cities. Micro NYC's with downtown lofts that are stylish and affordable. This is how we get rid of our ghettos. We build very affordable and stylish housing where people can afford to get out and cant wait to move in to one of them. Cant just kick people out or wait until it gets so bad they die or move. Lots of smaller very modern high rises. Really unique ones. Ones with the exterior made of pearlescent like abilone. Blue smoked glass like the Cool Water bottle. You could make apartments in a huge aquarium. There's no limit to creativeness.

Wind power and water power from Lake Erie.

Fantasy type homes like you would find in an RPG. Even if the trees have to be fake and custom made. Tree house communities would rock. Hobbit houses, and all that stuff.

Toledo is glass city. There has to be like a gazillion usages for glass. Couldn't you even pour glass roads and mix it with something for traction? Blue roads would be sweet.

Columbus Spaceport. Future proof. When the space race becomes practical, no one is going to want to be left behind.

Organics and electronics fused together that can use chemical signatures to interact.

All of our cities being independent in food consumption and generation from locally grown crops. Creates jobs where the direct result of the job has a direct result and benefit for the area. We could have massive growing facilities. And import locally grown crops. We don't want anyone being forced to be part of a system. That's highly unethical. This would cut down on cost and the need or transporting goods and maintain their freshness.

Local groups that plan and work together to rebuild our communities. If someone can plan it, people will do it.

Find a way to eliminate trash. Cant we find common containers or something that could be disolved in a certain liquid or something and then remolded? How far could you go using common storage units for food, beverages and such? I we worked diligently at it we could probably replace a ton of things and eliminate metric tons of trash every year.

Also if Massachusetts can put certain things in school cirriculum's why cant Ohio put the benefits of abstinence and marriage between a man and a women? Why wouldn't we want to set an example for children and teach them about life long relationships between one male and female partner? Its a good thing. Its also safe.

Also large scale timber growth and production. harvest it only as fast as you can regrow it. The more you grow the more wood you have. Its a renewable resource. Replant it and you have more. Creates jobs too. Think about our states future as if it were on its own. Getting our grads and high school graduates fresh and put in to our own workforce. The state is losing to many of its educated kids.

Pioneering underwater infrastructure and habitats. Its only a matter of time before the coasts start filling up with underwater living habitats. Those underwater living habitats could actually help reef systems grow and nurture oceanic wildlife communities.

Creating businesses where workers have the opportunity to work half of a day and go to school the other half. People shouldn't just stop going to school once they're out of college or whatever. It should be a lifelong learning experience. I don't see a normal reason why learning stops in society in general. Its seems like there could be a successful formula for creating a bio-sphere like enclosed society that circulates and benefits itself.

Whether or not I agree with these suggestions (a lot of them are interesting), I like how you think out of the box (i.e. Spaceport ). The 20th century Ohio playbook can no longer be the status quo. Invention and innovation will be paramount to Ohio's success and survival.

Thanks Art. I don't know anyone to talk about corny stuff in real life with. Most people are to busy. I'm tired of Ohio just getting by too. Where are all the cool ideas and things?

Alright here's another one. It only seems practical that with the internet being so widely utilized that fundamental learning like mathematics could be done for free online. Wether its introductory courses, prep courses, and hardcore calculus and stuff. Couldn't Ohio have teachers and helper students online for people that want to learn mathematics in steps? I mean some kids aren't going to go to school. Some have family problems. Some have other issues. Some parents want their kids taught from home for different reasons. I don't think we should deny anyone knowledge if they're seeking it. We could have a statewide program for our residents where they could go online and take math courses for free. As far as they want to take them. All the way up to physics. This could also alleviate some of the college strain or need for overcrowded classrooms. People could go online and others would be able to chat with them and answer questions and such. 24/7 365 days a year if necessary. If only people had someone to walk them through it and help them understand. Not everyone can learn in the same type of environment or chooses to. As the program grew online helpers and teachers would be less burdened. We could also zap these things right in to the living room where anyone could take courses for free. Ohio live education access. It could have learning games for adults as well and jeopardy like tournaments with prizes and such. I mean you could learn together and help each other. It would be like doing your homework together. Generally people who want to learn are going to be serious enough to help someone else in their position. We want our people going out there with some hardcore knowledge that they can be respected for. Plus most of all it would be at the persons own learning pace. They could suit it to their lifestyle or whatever. Single moms, failing students, adults trying to get back on track you name it.

I too appreciate your willingness to initiate a discussion about new ideas. Though I am no longer in Ohio, having lived in multiple states allows me to get a better idea as to how Ohio fits in the national scene.

I agree that one of the key problems with Ohio is that the state does not lead. Politically, it seeks consensus, which is counterproductive to new ideas and risk taking. I think that from a cost perspective, eduction may be a good place to start. Innovative ideas for providing outstanding and affordable eduction could be an attention getter. The old arguments about teacher unions, bad parents, rotten kids and school funding doesn't go anywhere, except more finger pointing.

Hey,

Hobbit Houses are easy to make, they just take time. Check these out if you aren't familiar:

News | Cob Cottage Company

You might be able to build a hobbit shed in your backyard if codes allow for it. If you have clay soil it is very cheap.
