I think "hate" isn't the right word. It's more a matter of people being ignorant or ill-informed about Ohio. Frankly, other than OSU a lot of people do not care or know enough about Ohio to "hate" it in the context it is being used in this thread.

Ohio pretty much epitomizes Middle America and "fly-over" country for those who prefer to stay on the coasts. It is quintessentially American, no matter how you slice it; it has farmland, gritty cities, museum districts, major universities, generic suburbs and small-town Americana all in one medium-sized state.

Actually that sounds really good. To have all those things in one state instead of a single monotonous culture, to me, is a huge positive. It means that individuals can basically pick and choose what and where they want to live with.

Not all the cities are gritty.

@jbcmh, I agree....can't think of another state with that much variety off the top of my head.

Did I say they were? Maybe people hate Ohio because their residents have an inferiority complex.

I'm from MI, lived in OH for 2 yrs. Loved it. Hubby is from OH. I never really figured out what was in OH until I lived there - can't wait to move back. We have several reasons we will not move back to MI. Lake Michigan is my all time favorite destination, but I do well on Lake Erie. Just spent last Saturday at the Maumee Bay State Park and had a wonderful time.

My favorite OH destination - Put in Bay.

Several state parks on the eastern side of the state are fantastic, too.

That's ok. Starting with late fall through early spring Ohio has a LOT of cloudy, rainy, snowy days. That would be about half the year, give or take.

I used to live in LA and loved the sunny and 75 every single day winters. Of course there was a short rainy season in mid-winter. Though I do like my four season, I am getting to where excessive summer heat and excessive winter cold are somewhat of a drag.

I'll give you the excessive summer heat but Cincinnati winters are quite mild by Midwestern standards.
