I think Toledo is fine for gay people. There's a pretty big population if you ask me. Several downtown bars and the areas I would go would be The Old West End, Westmoreland (Both these areas are filled with beautiful homes at reasonable prices) even Old Orchard. I live in Old Orchard (neighborhood surrounding UT) and I personally know of at least 10 gay couples back here. Best bet for safety regarding general crime would be Old Orchard, tho Westmoreland has a dandy neighborhood watch program and crime statistics in that area are low, (it's the Upton Ave "line" that crosses into the 'hood) and unfortunately, that's just one street up from the Westmoreland Area. As I said, I think we have a pretty good size of gay population here. I certainly wouldn't go to smaller towns like Findlay, Defiance, etc.

There basicaly is not any gay social life in Defiance at all, i cant even find a gf here hardly any gays. the family video even only holds maybe 3 or 4 gay movies. they look at you funny here most of the time. I would not move to defiance if i where you, its a dead town with bad people, but some good. They have ranks by a good last name or how much money you have. Good luck surviving Defiance, Ohio. ant nothing but a hick town, even though Ohio has a town called Hicksville 10mins away from defiance, how ironic.

Cinti has a large gay population...and I have to agree with Old West End in Toledo know many people that live in that area...but some parts around it has a high crime area but those streets that houses may not have a lot of property crime

Well one thing I am more leary about is those person's who really hate gay people usually those are the ones on the downlow I wouldn't worry about what people think of you....I can guarantee if you go on Craig you will find out there are alot of MARRIED men who are sleeping with other men and they want discretion....

I am considering a job offer in Cleveland. Can anyone suggest a 'gay area' downtown to live. I currently live in downtown Denver, and would like to have the same type of lifestyle in Cleveland. Please don't tell me I have to move to the burbs to be with 'family'.... LOL

Lakewood. that is the area that is most known for its gay population and its acceptance of alternative lifestyles that is close to Cleveland.
there might be another suburb, but this is what i've heard from gay friends living in the Cleveland area. |
