I doubt it. When I lived in Cincinnati, I never heard anyone mention Put-In-Bay, or Lake Erie for that matter.

No. I find it too conservative and Southern-esque

Conservative. Southern.

Whats too much their and whats too little in southwest Ohio.
Too much conservative thinking and religious right-wingers.

Does southwest Ohio fit your lifestyle why or why not?
SW Ohio seems like it has a lot more in common with Kentucky or Indiana than it does Northern Ohio.

Is their more positives or negatives?
Definitely negatives.

I live in SW Ohio and I will be the first to admit that these statements are true and correct. It's a great place if that is what you are looking for, I am a libertarian and an evangelical fundamentalist, I fit in better here than I ever would in any other part of the state.

I'd watch the evening news and begin to wonder if Cincinnati wasn't in Kentucky instead of Ohio.
When I lived in Cincy I noticed the "local" news would report on sports at UK and UofL, but not a peep about Dayton basketball and hardly anything on OSU sports. You can routinely receive coverage of a house fire, meth lab bust, car crash, etc. as far south as Owen county Ky; however, if you need to know what's going on north of the 275 loop, fuggedabouit!

Put-In-Bay?!?! Ain't that in Michigan somewhere?

Some people in Cincy have never heard of Put-In-Bay, and there are others than cannot tell you what Great Lake borders Ohio.

I came to Cincinnati from Maryland and I was unaware of the distinct cultural differences in the various quadrants of Ohio. SW Ohio, particularly Cincinnati felt surprisingly southern to me and as much as many of the natives denounced it, there was certainly a detectable drawl in the area.

Yes, as a proud Flyer Fanatic, that incenses me greatly. And it's not like there aren't a boatload of fellow UD alums in Cincinnati.

Interesting in how people see SW Ohio as "southern", beyond the basic geographical location...and they are picking-up on the political/cultural consevatism.

My impression that people from Cincinnati act like it's not part of Ohio. Like they live in their own state or something.

Don't get that impression from Daytonites.
Cincy tends to be pretty insular, and their media market extends deeper into Nothern KY and along the Ohio River towards Ripley and Maysville (which might account for the KY news stories).

Dayton is more "of Ohio", not a place-unto-itself the way Cincy is. Dayton media market covers most of the west/central part of the state as far north as Lima and Indian Lake (& extends into Indiana) Also there are a lot of family ties to those counties.

Actually, I've seen several UD flags flying in Hyde Park, Oakley and Mount Lookout. I, too, am among the Flyer Faithful and go to just about every home game.

I loved SW Ohio so much that I moved back here from the Rocky Mountain west. I love Cincinnati, Dayton and all the towns in between, from Centerville to Oxford to Waynesville to Lebanon. It's just the best part of the state, in my opinion, and it's where I feel most at home. I also like Northern Kentucky and its scenery.

Cincinnati is just dripping with charm in a way not really found in a lot of other cities - architecture, quirky neighborhoods, rolling hills, bridges, unique local food, interesting people/personalities, the campus environments around UC and X and the elite sports played there, the fantastic arts scene, hidden gems galore, etc. Cincinnati is so ridiculously underrated that it's almost comical to see visitors' reactions when they get here. I always take first-time visitors straight from the airport to Mount Adams and they're just bowled over that their preconceived notions were immediately blown out of the water.

I also love Dayton and the personality it has. It gets such a negative reaction sometimes from people who've never been there or whose only experience is driving through on the 75. But it's a fun place with great people, a ton of amenities and, in my opinion, Ohio's best attraction in the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.

^ Yeah that museum should have gotten one of the space shuttles. That would have really made that place rock. LA has enough things as is.

Dayton has the personality of Larry the Cable Guy.

I grew up in NW Ohio and have always lived there or in extreme SE Michigan just over the state line, so here are my thoughts:

Would you ever consider living in southwest Ohio. Why or why not?

Absolutely, it is my favorite part of Ohio. I much prefer it to Columbus, Cleveland, or Toledo. I LOVE that it has a more southern vibe, that it is close to Kentucky, and that it is not flat as a board. Oh, and that spring seems to come a couple of weeks earlier than where I'm from.

First thought of southwest Ohio?

Rolling hills, conservative politically (a breath of fresh air when you have lived around Toledo all of your life and see what a mess the local politicians have made of it!), close to the beautiful Bluegrass State, richer in history than most Ohio cities because of its location and being founded and settled earlier.

Whats too much their and whats too little in southwest Ohio.

Too much snow and cold weather, but then, it is still Ohio. Too little? Nothing that I can think of, although I have never tried to find a job there so I can't comment on the job market.

Does southwest Ohio fit your lifestyle why or why not?

Yes, if I was told that I could never leave the state of Ohio again, Cincinnati would be where I would hang my hat.

Is their more positives or negatives?

For me, more positives than negatives.
