^I know Lisbon is the county seat for Columbiana County. Columbiana County is really nice. Lisbon has a nice courthouse and many new county buildings have been built this past year.

The most famous thing is they caught Morgan's Raiders from the Confederate forces near Lisbon during the Civil War. That was the most northern advance by any of the southern forces.

Not directly in Lisbon. On what was called Old Lisbon Road.

I remembered there used to be a stone marker. Asked my sister about it.

She said yes, it used to be with a small rest area. But due to vandalism they had to move it somewhere in town. Also something about a tree. Apparently dating from that time.

The most notable thing is Harvey Firestone and all his doings in the area. Lots of the fancy houses in Lisbon date from that period.

Go to the Salem Library. The Ohio room has everything you are looking for. I really enjoyed a book about the Sandy and Beaver Canal. The Original court house was built from cut blocks that were salvaged from the canal.

I just saw some of the new plans for the County Courthouse in Lisbon. Its going through a couple of million dollars in reconstruction. It will really come out looking good by mid-next year.

Bump to the top for Vanessa.

More than one thread on this subject really isn't necessary. This one was only 3 pages back.
