Default Holiday Happenings

Last year, among other things, we made a trip to Clifton Mill to see their Christmas Light display. I know that practically every community in the state has at least one special activity to mark the holiday season. How about we share information about community celebrations. Maybe someone will see something that catches their eye and do a little traveling to get to know their state better. I'll start it off.

The Village of Montpelier in Williams County, clear up in the Northwest corner, is hosting their first "Old Tyme Holiday Gathering" on Saturday, November 24th on the fairgrounds and downtown. Activities include the Retail Merchants Open House, Craft Show featuring work of local artisans at the Fairgrounds, Historical Encampment at the fairgrounds, Santa arives at 1:00, Horse and Antique tractor transports between the fairgrounds and downtown, Historical Museum will be open, Vintage Homes open for tours, Various Musical Groups will be performing in the downtown streets, Christmas Wreath Auction at 5:30 Downtown, between 5 & 6 there will be hot drinks, cookies, etc. sold downtown by local groups, Lighted Carriage and Antique Tractor Parade from the fairgrounds to downtown at 6, and a Christmas Auction at the fairgrounds following the parade. It sounds to me like a good chance to get out and enjoy a little small town hospitality.
