Default Moving to Ohio, any suggestions as to where?

My boyfriend and I are going to be moving to Ohio. I will be going to college and my boyfriend will be running his own business. The rest of my family lives in Michigan, so I want to live somewhere that is close to the Michigan border. I am from a very small city (6,000 population) so I would like suggestions about smaller towns near the Toledo area that has a good economy.. We will also be raising a baby in the area. Any names of places would be great!

Where will you be going to college? What type of business does your boyfriend have?

I'm not sure where I am going to college. It needs to have a nursing program though. My boyfriend runs a satellite and security company. It is my understanding that everyone in the lower 48 gets satelitte for free, so he will mostly be doing security. I will also be working as a Certified Nurses Aid. I have been looking into
Monclova, Slyvania, Perrysburg, Maumee, Washington township,Waterville, and Oregon. Does anyone have any info on these areas? Or possibly any others?

I don't have any specifics on those areas, but they are very close to Toledo, so you would have ready access to the medical facilities as well as the residences and businesses in those areas. I personally feel that there may be more demand for security systems in those areas than farther away from Toledo. As for the satellite, there is no free, "legal" satellite. In my opinion, you may get more "bang for your buck" as far as housing goes if you go a little farther away from Toledo. Northwest State Community College ( NSCC : Welcome ) near Archbold has an extensive Health and Human services program including both RN and LPN programs. Some of the major communities near there are Archbold (pop. 4500, 5 miles), Napoleon (pop.9100, 10 miles), Bryan (pop. 8350, 13 miles), Defiance (pop. 16200, 14 miles), and Wauseon (pop. 7350, 15 miles). All 5 of these communities have hospitals, Defiance has 2. All the hospitals have recently been or are being upgraded/renovated/expanded. In fact Bryan is in the beginning stages of a $62 million renovation/expansion. Also there are many nursing homes and other health care facilities in the area that offer employment opportunities. True, the pay may not be as high as the Toledo metro area, but it might be worth considering. Of these towns, Bryan is the farthest away from Toledo, it's about an hours drive, so the Toledo feeatures are not all that far away. Bryan, Archbold, and Wauseon are all less than 20 miles from Michigan and all 3 of those have ready access to Interstate 80/90 (Turnpike).

If you are interested in any more information about this area, let me know.

Coming from a fellow Michigan native that goes back and forth.....

Definitely check out Cleveland metro. Excellent area, better economy than Toledo, and top notch medical system. Decent cost of living and the area is doing ok enough that someone going into business for themselves might have a good shot, especially near Brunswick/Medina and surrounding areas. We're in Grafton, just over an hour east of Toledo. Easy commute - we're in Lansing on a regular basis.
