Hi Folks!

Driving from DC to Chicago and only have one chance to visit Ohio from this trip.
I have three routes to choose from crossing into Ohio, and I would like to know which one of these 3 cities is worth visiting: Cleveland, Columbus, or Cincinnati?

My interests?
- Good food
- Busy bars
- Hip urban environment
- active social setting

I'm basically looking for a busy area (Metropolitan type) in Ohio.
Any recommendations?

All three are worth visiting and all three fit your requirements.

Also, congrats on starting what will probably become a 30 page mega-thread chock full of Ohio infighting.

Cincinnati, particularly Over the Rhine and downtown. None of these cities lack in what you need, I just feel Cincinnati is unique amongst Ohio cities due to it's densely built downtown neighborhoods and it's architecture and history.

Agreed. All "3-Cs" may offer the OP what's being asked for, but only Cincinnati will be able to provide them in such a compact, dense, and beautiful urban setting. In addition, just across the Ohio River from downtown are all the dining and entertainment options of the NKY riverfront communities, especially Covington and Newport--easily reached by four pedestrian-friendly and two expressway bridges.

Pretty sure that was a joke.

Only Cincinnati? Try visiting the other cities sometime before you talk about them.

Cleveland has a river too. Across Cleveland's river, there is also dining and entertainment options in Ohio City and Tremont. You can get to Ohio City over at least 3 different bridges. Downtown Cleveland is also compact, dense, and there are some pretty sights there too.

At least make Cincy sound unique. Columbus could also say similar things.

The quickest route from D.C. to Chicago would take you on up to Pittsburgh, then the Ohio Turnpike, then over to the Indiana Turnpike which leads into Chicago. As such, a stop-off in Cleveland probably makes sense.

This ^^^

Neither Cincy nor Cbus offers anything unique enough to warrant the extra miles. Now, if your final destination were Indy, I would say Columbus, or if it were farther south . . .
