Granville/Newark Area
Granville is a nice area, grown a lot over the years. But be careful. Taxes are twice as high in the Granville school district area as in Newark. Granville was always the place for "up and comers" to go. New house prices were always a little steeper too (for the honor of saying that you live in Granville ). There is a nice neighborhood off of Cherry Valley road (I think it is Park Trails) that I was looking at some houses. But my best friend (who still lives in Newark) reminded me about the taxes. I will start working in the Heath/Hebron area in 2 weeks, but I'll stay with my parents until my husband and I find a house.

The only really bad thing is some of the winters can be really cold and the ice storm a couple of years ago was awful. Anyone know any Bartons in Newark?

Not true. Pa. Just repealed their helmet law in the last couple of years. One high profile idiot would not cause the entire Pa. legislature to go through all of that fighting again. There are also many motorcycle rights groups that would be up in arms after having just won a long hard fight.
I have only been to Newark once in my life. It happened to be the same weekend that all of the hotrodders were at the Columbus drag strip. We couldn't get a room for another 30 miles, so ended up going home.
While we were there we got to check out the glass blower at the Industrial Museum. I wanted to see the indian mound at the Newark park, but was already passed it before I realized where it was. There was too much traffic to turn around. From what I saw it was a pretty nice town.

Yes lol i was wondering that when i was in Pittsburgh this past week, and saw people not wearing helmets. I know that they were talking about making it a new law because of Roethlisberger.

Hello
I was surfing and found this page so I thought I would give you my outlook on Newark
I was born and raised there for 48 years and I moved to the Ft Worth Texas area 6 months ago. What I wouldn't give to move back. If you like small towns you'll enjoy it. One of the areas I miss the most is Longaberger baskets. I lived about 3 miles from their offices on East Main St. The factory is really interresting to tour. It's located in Frazysburg not too far east of Newark. There are a few nice restaurants in the area like the Natoma downtown, the best baby beef tenderloin in town. Most finer places are in COlumbus though. Traffic not too bad and the best place to buy groceries would be Meijer. I worked there for 16 years. Very competative shopping. They have a mall in the neighboring town of Heath. Not too big but allright for the basics, but Zanesville is just east and columbus to the west both have malls. Good luck in your seach and maybe we'll be neighbors someday if I ever make it home.
