It isn't affordable to live here because not only do you have to pay state, and federal tax most cities/towns in Ohio charge you local income where you reside, local income tax if you work outside the town where you live. So basically you are hit 4 times with income tax. If you live away from the cities where all the jobs are cost of living is less expensive but you have to drive so far to get to work. Ohio has the highest foreclosure of homes in the country and the job market is not good. The cost of living is higher than the salaries. It is miserable outside in the summer (humid) and after summer ends there are very few days of sun. The sun only shines 160 days a year. Since fall has come it has been rainy, windy, cold and cloudy everyday. There is a high rate of people diagnosed with seasonal depression due to the lousy weather here. I suppose people who grew up with all that I told you probably see nothing wrong with this because they haven't lived for a long period time somewhere else.

I was born and raised in Ohio. Quess what, Texas has all kinds of problems with illegals; Texas is as hot as he**. Sounds like you'd be happier elsewhere. There is no paradise.

Summers are not hot in Ohio, it's just that people get used to the 6-8 months of winter, pack on the pounds, and 70-80 is a heat wave. Crime rates are high in every major city in the state, jobs pay pretty lousy for what you pay in rent, etc.. Pick where you would like to live, but Ohio would not be in my top picks ever again.

Wrong. Florida has the highest foreclosure rate in the country. Where do you get 6-8 months of winter?? In Alaska we get winter usually from October through possibly early April. NOT in Ohio. Ohio usually has winter from late Oct. or early November until usually the end of March. What they get in April usually melts very quickly.

If you are so unhappy with Ohio..either leave or try to do something to make it a better place instead of sitting there and typing on this board all day on how bad it is to live in Ohio. Good grief, Charlie Brown

Good grief Charlie Brown is right lol. Ohio has it's problems, BUT then so does every State. I was reading this morning where Anchorage's inflation rate is up along with unemployment. What I find sooooo funny is people who are moving always seem to think they are going to some "perfect place" and then they get there, and after the initial excitement wears off, they realize that where they have moved has problems and is not what they thought it was.

I love it when someone tells us we have accents. My wife and I travelled to Quebec for our honeymoon, compared to the French Canadians we felt very very bland. My parents visited Sydney about a month ago and were both awe-struck. Ohio I'm sure is very different, but I guess that could be a reason to move here, plus you can buy a home for $40,000 if you are brave.
