BTW, OneWayOut, we got off topic here--sorry! Loved your post! My Dad has e-mailed me this before, but it still always makes me laugh.

coldest state is Minnesota...I recall 18 below for a daytime high...Alaska is warmer, Connecticut, New Hampshire are warmer...windchill does have alot to do with it...when the wind comes off any icy water or snow capped mountain, it's a new form of cold that defies description beyond brrrrr.

Yeah, my dad used to live in Minnesota when he was a kid. He said it was just a cold beyond cold...unimaginable.
The thing about Ohio is that it never stays the same temperature, so weather conditions are always changing. In the morning, it'll be snow-storming and the ground will be covered in white, but then that same afternoon it'll warm up, turning all of that white to gross, disgusting, brown SLUSH. That's what bugs me the most...the slush, not the snow.

Hi Ohioans. Minn. is my neighbor. Just wanted to let you know that we have variety of temps up here, too. It can be -70 in the morning and warm up to a balmy -20 during the day. I agree with the poster who was talking about Global Cooling.

Minnesota -60 Feb. 2, 1996 Tower 1,430
MN never got to -70, maybe if you factor in windchill during a blizzard. Im sure its unusual to even get much below 0. I dont even know how MN set a world record of -60, it arent the north pole!

-70? Could not even imagine experiencing that. It is now in the 40's here, and windy. The "stuck in a heated cave" feeling is here to stay again. The dark dreery blegh that inhabits this place all winter has returned once again with a vengeance. It was in the 70's just 3 weeks ago, with leaves on the trees. What a drag.

^ I can understand why you are leaving Florida. Florida is in really bad condition right now. They are just lucky they havent got a bad hurricane this year, then it would be even worse. My brother-in-law is moving his family to Hilliard, Ohio (suburb of Columbus) from West Palm Beach. They want better school systems for their kids. Florida has the 49th worse school districts in the country. They are tired of the hurricanes, and the cost of living. Crime is on the increase as well as the drug problem. A lot of my wife's family in Florida has been leaving the state, and i see why each year i go down there.

Well I definately have to agree with you on that one. I cannot stand cold weather. I do like snow and winter, but in small doses. A trip to the mountains skiing would be one example I would like. I thought about Daytona Beach, FL, but the hurricanes and humidity are somewhat of a turnoff. One of the reasons I am thinking of moving to AZ is the year round nice weather (except it gets super hot in the summer, but I'll take that over the freeze anyday) and the close proximity to the mountains if I do want a taste of winter.
