I grew up in Green, right down the road from Hartville.... & I loved going there as a kid. They do have the cutest little shops, a great chocolate factory, The Hartville Pie Factory, & a great place for ice cream. & Bayoubilly is so right about Lake Blue Streaks... watch out b/c they are die hard fans! Ha ha. It really is beautiful there. & it does really seem to have a sense of community. A return to busy life is only about 5 minutes down the road. You can go to Edison Center any day of the week & find the Marc's parking lot chocked full of people. The flea market is fun, although I don't really consider that to be Hartville, & the Hartville Kitchen has great food too. Just do it! I can't imagine anybody moving there & hating it. Who cares if taxes are high... it's worth it!

We do not have any Amish left, only Mennonites [drive cars]. To find an active Amish community you have to go to Millersburgh approx 40 miles south. The economy sucks as we have no manufacturing base except one, and that is a pipe processor.
On the good side housing is cheap, rent is cheap, food is modest, and the people are friendly
Yes there are no amish so to speak in the town of Hartville...all mennonites and they own most of the businesses in the town, it is a cute town and it is rural compared to Akron/Canton...but the streets roll up at 9pm and the lights go to flashing so if you like the night activities Hartville is not the place to be!
