i have wanted to move to north carolina for several years now more in particular mooresville "race city usa" the racing capital of the usa , i know for certain that i will love it there forever and ever. so i have finally after 13 years in this state decided to grow some balls and move.
and if someone moves to another state and realizes they hate that place to then maybe they thought they would love it but find out the new place sucks to, perhaps the new move wasnt in their heart have a great day

Not in Raleigh it's not! Raleigh's getting pricey.
I was thinking 1500 square foot ranch home for a hundred grand.

The entire area around New Philadelphia is very lovely. My niece moved there last year and she is very happy. The people are friendly - there's a real community feeling there - and housing is affordable. I bet you will love it!

Try looking in smaller cities and towns. I can get three small houses for that kind of money. You wont find those prices in the big metro cities in OH. In WV, almost everywhere except the east panhandle near DC have very affordable houses. Texas is pretty affordable too and lots of new developments in the low to mid $100s and nice big houses in the mid to high $100s.

Hi Enchanted- I was raised just outside Navarre/Brewster area in Ohio. About a 10 minute drive to Strasburg. I have been living in South Florida
for the past 14 years and can't stand it anymore. I am thinking of relocating back to my hometown area. Like the other post said, New Philadelphia is
a bigger city and Canton. Jobs are scarce though. That is what is scaring me about moving back. Housing is super cheap, but wages are $10-$12/hour for non management office work. Alot are $9/hour I am looking to have to work in Akron (same wages). Winters are the worst (why I left), but if you are used to a small town - I'm sure you will like it. I'm a country girl myself & missing it - so best of luck to you. I would definitely suggest going on careerbuilders.com & check out jobs in the area for whatever type of work you do.

Hubby is born & bred Buckeye & I lived in Ohio with him for 30 years. The 2 years we lived in Strasburg were the worst we lived anywhere! Population about 2000, the city gov't is all the "hometown" boys. If your not born & bred there...you get the point. We still have some good friends from there but no way would I ever tell anyone to live in that town! In fact, the friends moved out of there too.
I would suggest Dover, it is one town over (about 11,000) and a very nice town. It abuts New Philadelpia (about 16,000). The two towns have a few shared annual events, and a healthy competion with each other. In fact, the county fairgrounds are actually on the city line of both towns in town, LOL. The people in either are much more welcoming to newcomers. Personally I think Dover is a little nicer. N.Philly has the mall. It's 20-25 min to Canton & the larger shopping areas. There are a lot of open rural areas outside any of the towns there. Watch SR-800 from Dover to Mineral city, its a high flood area. Just about anywhere around Dover (except Strasburg) is good. The local paper is online at www.timesreporter.com
Berlin or Millersburg area is beautiful & the major Amish area but about 40 min to Strasburg. Good luck!
