I truly believe that if you aren't working and being productive to society you shouldn't vote,and if you rent you shouldn't be allowed to vote to raise citizens property taxes......the U.S. Constitution does not say everyone has a right to vote.

1. We shouldn't aspire to be part of Kentucky. Kentucky is by far worse than Ohio will ever be.
2. Kentucky probably wouldn't want us, as Kentucky always struggles to be taken seriously by the rest of the South.
3. When you get down to it, with the exception of metro Cleveland, Cincinnat is just as hillbillyville as the rest of Ohio.
4. The real question is should we get rid of Metro Toledo...

Ah, looks like I just found a drinking buddy for my next trip back to Ohia.
Now really, wouldn't "Metro-Toledo" be an oxy-moron? Just checking - haven't been there in some time but ... but ... well ... you know?(Here's to the girls of Toledo Ohio; I spent a week there one day).
There are cool pockets of Kentucky - namely, Newport. Ft. Mitchell. in other words, a few towns around Cincinnati. Some folks will claim that Lexington is cool. Ahem ... I believe those folks are from Lexington.
And really, YoMikey, a second-cousin of some sort just got done being governor of Kentucky ... that means I will now support a bombing campaign ... but leave Newport - seriously!
Do not use the word HillBilly in Ohio - that is a word for people in the SE part to use to talk down about Kentuckians and West Virginia. The rest of us all came from Kentucky or West Virginia ... or our folks did ... or their folks ... or theirs.
Besides, that word has now been transformed into a presidential candidate .... "HillBillary"!

Ha, this is SO true! I grew up in Cleveland and went to college at Miami. When I first got to campus, Cincinnati was still some "abstract concept" to me. Southern Ohioans would seem as though they had prejudiced feelings towards the Northern parts of the state, telling me how horrible Cleveland was and how much they despised the North. It caught all of my friends and I off guard - we didn't even know where Cincinnati was, let alone have any feelings about the region or its inhabitants. I honestly had no idea there was such a "division" of the state before I met these Cincinnati residents!!

Similar experiences, anyone??

Excellent! I'm in total agreement.

And yes, the word "progressive" seems to have been co-opted in recent years by those of a socialistic persuasion, perhaps in hopes of hiding their real agenda behind the name of "progress"

Cincinnati tends to have less of that mindset 'cuz Cincinnatians are smart enough to see through it!

I'm glad someone agrees with me!!! I never knew that NE Ohioans were disliked by other Ohioans, southerners in particular, until I came on citydata. We don't really dislike people from Cincinnati, we just don't ever think about them! And the funniest part is that they think we're "snooty"! I've been to lots of places where I thought the people were pretentious, and believe me, NE Ohio is NOT one of them. It's the freakin' rust belt. C'mon people!

NE Ohio is very urban and more like the Northeast, especially the people and not necessarily the buildings. Southeast Ohio is a lot like the hills in West Virginia and is from from being urban. SW Ohio is like SE Ohio but just more urban and still has sort of a more southern feel to it but not as hillbilly as SE Ohio. Central and West Ohio is more like Indiana and the rest of the Midwest.

To answer the question I dont think Cincinnati should succeed from Ohio even though if it did it wouldn't really matter. I also have to say even though Cincinnati is somewhat like Kentucky, Cincinnati is far better than any place in Kentucky ever will be.
