I posted a few weeks ago about information on moving to Lima, Ohio. I wasn't reassured that it was a good decision. After a few days of researching I found that Lima has a staggering number of sex offenders! What is it about this place that attract that sort of person?

Below is just a screenshot of my boyfriend's work and the number of sex offenders just a few miles away.

My first guess is that you may be picking up the prison population at Oakwood Correctional Institute in this. A city with a state prison in its boundaries would be expected to have a high concentration of sex offenders and any other type of criminal. If you have excluded them, than the other guess would be that Lima has a good amount of general labor type jobs that are less picky about criminal records.

I don't think you will find anywhere without lots of sexual offenders. Every area I ever checked out had many.

My guess is that they think Glee is actually filmed there.

Just a guess, but Lima and surrounding area has a large number of older motels that are used for extended-stay. These are often where registered sex offenders live.

There are also many trailer courts and run-down apartments that are rented out for short term.

The state of Ohio attracts them here with their contract with the Mar Alice House. Its a dumping grounds for sex offenders.

There are several halfway houses on Elm St in Lima. This is where most go when released from prison so they are sent here from all over the state. Many stay because of the cheap rental housing & crappy landlords who don't care who they rent to as long as you can pay.
