I'm open to alternatives. However, I am not sure it matters. Wouldn't all the city's population still be included 8 miles south of the shore, or how far do you need to go?

Not sure how this went awry but I was using the current city limit square mile size of CIN and CLE; each about 77 to 78 square miles. City limits, the city jurisdiction. COL is about 212 square miles. Don't know where the 8 miles south of the lake stuff comes into this.

It came from the 8 miles out from downtown measurement that the census does.

I was attempting to equalize the cities.

Maybe E. 55th and Broadway in Slavic Village would be a better center point for Cleveland.

EDIT: Or maybe even Newburgh Heights...I agree it's hard to get the Lake out of there.

In my minds eye clevelands cbd is between the tall buildings. From the gateway district north to lake Erie, and from Cleveland state, west to the warehouse district/earnst & young tower. And as much as the east bank of the flats is booming with development, imo its on the edge of dt and has its own identity and shouldnt be included. Also clevelands E.9th st. is on its way to being a newly populated area in the heart of the cbd..the"9" will have people living from the 14th to 29th flrs. The 1717 building, and many many more currently being refurbished . make no mistake about it clevelands downtown is exploding.. Imo the dt populations are the people living in the high-rise bldings or between them... And regarding population discussion above in terms of "x" amount of miles from cbd, cleveland will suffer because of the abandoned detroit-like areas 2-miles east and beyond.

It's almost mind-boggling the night and day difference of Downtown Cleveland from 5 years ago. The amount of new residential, entertainment, and infrastructuon/transportation added has created such a strong core for the future.

I'm most excited about "The 9"... Adding a full service grocery store, Autograph Marriott Collection Metropolitan hotel, 100's of new apartments, and elevated dining... all to the city main intersection -- E.9th and Euclid.
