Default Franklin University?

I was just looking for some input on Franklin University. I'm from out of state but my community college has an alliance with Franklin. The alliance allows me to take many "bridge" coarses at my community college, in my state, and the remainder of my classes online with Franklin to complete a bachelors. Any opinions on this college? I already have experience in my field. I just suspect I will need the degree at some point in my career.

Franklin is highly respected among the local business community here.

A degree from Franklin sorta conveys the subtle message, "I got my degree because I'm serious about a career; not just so I could party and spend four years getting drunk with the frat boys!" This is due to Franklin being mostly a commuter- and online-studies school; it is not your typical "campus" scene w/bars, all-frosh dorms, frat houses, etc.

Of course, OSU's Fisher College of Business is also respected for post-graduate work (MBA), but if you're at the undergrad level, then Franklin is probably your best bet.

Thanks for the input. Since I'm from out of state I thought I would check with someone from Ohio!

Franklin is good if you're already working for a Columbus area company. But otherwise it's a degree mill for the adult "some college" crowd.

They are accredited so I know they are not a degree mill. Their low tuition and alliance with my community college is a huge plus.

I went to Franklin, and it is a very good school for working adults. Many of the traditional and on-line courses are offered in 6 week formats which makes it easier to concentrate on 1 class at a time while working towards your degree.

I'm just started my bachelors degree at Franklin this semester and I also came for a local community college in Pennsylvania. I''ve search all over the net and haven't seen anything that would substantiate YoMikey617 claims of Franklin being a degree mill. Basically, this can be said about any college, but without the evidence to back it up then it's just one opinion to consider when making your mind to attend. Everyone will not agree with you and you have to understand that most locals will not like a school just because it's in their own backyard. The grass is always greener some believe!

I'm not saying Franklin is a bad place... But students today need to strongly consider leaving their options open for graduate school. Franklin students don't just roll into graduate programs at traditional universities, and traditional universities don't typically admit undergrads from Franklin.
If you can get into OSU I would strongly suggest OSU over Franklin.

If I wanted to continue for a Masters I would just stay at Franklin. I haven't signed anything yet but I can't seem to find a better deal. It just seems like a "working class" college. No different than the community college I'm attending now. I won't be competing with new college graduates for a new job. I'm happy with the company I work for now, plus I already have experience. I'm not looking to start at the bottom again.

And we are all going to take your advice, right? You've never attended college obviously or you would otherwise know that a degree mill is a place where you PURCHASE your degree. Last I checked, Franklin isn't giving anything away.

Besides, it is the accreditation that counts. And guess what....both OSU and Franklin have the same accrediting body!

Don't listen to people that have no idea what they are talking about, like I would follow advise from a "YoMikey" about my college investment.

Do research on your interests and the research needs to be from a creditable source. That is my advise.
