Yup, that coal to gas plant is the type of jobs Wellsville is going to need. Should do a lot of good. I hear, you will need to be fairly well educated to work there. Should be good paying jobs.
Question might be will those type people want to live in Wellsville again? They will have lots of choices as to location with a lot of jingle in their pockets.
Maybe NAH will finally wind up in Wellsville after his long Worldwide search for the most Affordable Housing on the planet. A house next to the Busy Bee just can't be all that bad. Good end of town with plenty of character.
There also was supposed to be a big medical center or something to do with the medical field. They were throwing around numbers like 3000 jobs. Last I heard that is not so sure any more. Lots of big bucks means get in on the ground floor. Just think you could have bought a house for $5 - 6 K if you had the vision a few years back in lil sleepy Wellsville.

Would you ask your Father in law and your wifes granparents if they knew the Pugh's of Wellsville?

I dont think houses in that location is going to be cheap anymore once all those jobs come then the demand for housing will sharply drive prices up. That location wont help me because I am not in the coal or nursing field, my profession is in computers and graphics design and im self employed, but looking for a temp job here in south FL so I can save enough money to buy a house when I relocate.

Well you make no sense. You want affordable housing but if there is some kind of resurgence in an economy then you can not afford. What is it? If you are retired then I can see a point to finding affordable housing on a fixed income.

I will be living like a retired person except ill work from home over the internet. I can not afford to live anywhere expensive unless I land a high paying job. Whats the point living somewhere if you are going to be too poor to enjoy a middle class life? Thats why I want to live somewhere that is affordable. Hey if I was rich then I could afford an expensive location.

What about flooding and tornadoes? I was looking at buying a house in Wellsville but it is in a valley with a creek on the property. I am concerned about flooding an also I read there was a tornado that hit there hard I think in 1989.

Check out Wintersville, Bloomingdale, and Richmond
These are all very nice places and not too far out. Of course if you live further out the houses do tend to cost less. I lived in the Ohio Valley all my life. I would cross off your list Bellaire, Mingo Junction (because of the pollution), Toronto and Steubenville, especially Steubenville as crime is very bad there especially downtown. Wintersville is the next town west and is very nice. Chester, Newell, New Cumberland and New Manchester, WV are all nice as is Wellsburg. I would stay away from Weirton to live though I do like to go there. The steel mill has been in the toilet for years and there is very high unemployment. There are over 30 gambling establishments there and this is a small town. We managed some rental property there in the downtown section and it was really bad. There are a lot of drugs there and crime. Wellsburg, WV has lots of history and has a downtown historical area. It is right on the river. It may have high pollution though but not as bad as Follansbee, WV and Mingo Junction, OH which are by the coke plant. Follansbee, WV downright stinks as you drive through it. If you are willing to go further out Hopedale, OH is beautiful (west of Wintersville). Dillonvale is nice too as well as Smithfield. Another nice river area is Rayland. Tiltonsville is a nice river town too. I travelled to all the schools in the county and they were the nicest kids. Nice kids usually tells something about the parents. The people are what make a town great. I agree with the poster who said if you are picking between Ohio, PA and West Virginia go with Ohio. PA's real estate taxes are really high as well as their city taxes. My Mom lived in West Virginia and worked in Pittsburgh. I think they have car inspection, too. Which is a royal pain even if you have a good car. Ohio doesn't. West Virginia taxes PETS! and also any animals you have, such as farm animals. They also have vehicle inspection. PA like Virginia is a commonwealth and has some really weird laws. Here in Virginia if you sign something it is binding. You don't have three days to change your mind in case you are being swindled or something. PA most likely is the same.

I grew up ,, for the first 15 years of my life anyway,,in Wellsville.. Have some wonderful memories..I go back about every year or so still , to visit family... I love to sit on a bench along the edge of the river and watch the freight boats go down river.. As a kid,, I remember seeing a showboat go down the river.. I believe the Ohio River was the last to have show boats..
Wellsville is however, pretty rundown.. But has improved since I began to go back for visits, nearly 20 years ago.
