Yeah the feds prosecuted a guy in California that had a state license to grow it. The jury was never told until after the trial, then they tried to get their verdict reversed, once they found out what was going on.
Don't know the point of the feds doing that, unless the drug companies are throwing a lot of money at the federal level to keep it illegal, for whatever reason.
Then we have 1 out of every 100 people in prison and now the states want to let some of them out early to cut costs....so WHY do we pay for drug trials....only to realize they aren't that big of threat and let them out of prison!?!??!?!?!?

Ohio - NORML
For less than 100g it's $100 and a minor misdemeanor. Anywhere in Ohio you can have you license suspended for 6 months if the courts deem necessary. Even if you have a 1g of marijuana. But minor misdemeanors aren't on your criminal record in Ohio either.. so in some sense, it's lenient for first time offenders with little amounts. I don't know how this compares to other states.

Pot is on the wane for people who want employment. Wal Mart, grocery stores and almost everyplace drug-tests today.
Not worth it.
But I do know of a lot of pot heads in North Baltimore; of course they're all unemployed.

It just depends where in Ohio you live. Go to NORML's website. They rate each of Ohio's 88 counties by arrest records. Some like Ashtabula county have nothing better to do than eat donuts and bust 50 year old medical marijuana users. In my home county, our cops have better things to do like arresting child molesters. The general rule is you can have an ounce you can get away with it Some of the best Marijuana grown in this country comes from Meigs county near Marieta.Good news in Cleveland Athens and Ohio University. Bad news in Lake county and Hamilton which is where Cincinnati is. It is not a good Idea to sell it in Ohio. The penalties are much higher than just smoking it.The DEA goes after distributors not recreational users here. After reading this post it is very clear that the original author knows little to nothing about using Marijuana. He reminds me of SGT Friday in Dragnet.

Don't care. Recreational use is fine, as well as homegrown for yourself. Selling it in large quantities is a no-no. As long as law enforcement doesn't abuse people because of it, things are working as intended. I used to smoke and don't like it. Its not something everyone wants just because it gets you high. I'm plenty old enough to buy alcohol, and I choose not to. I'm not going to judge everyone who chooses to smoke it. That isn't my place. I can only say that the action of smoking it might not get you anywhere.
Plus I think you have to give people the benefit of the doubt here. Plants should not be made illegal unless there are very clear reasonings for it. When my brother got caught with it when we were younger, and a friend came to pick us up from the bar, the cop did not arrest him and just made him stamp it out on the ground. I was very grateful for that. My brother died not to long after that for different reasons. So jail time would have meant less time with him.
Maybe Ohio could use Marijuana and defy Federal Law so we can help our economy. In case anyone hasn't noticed, if you look around Ohio is always being made fun of and laughed at. Our five cities have dilapidated and there isn't enough revenue to make any fast changes, or build cool things. I would favor that and rebuilding our state over playing war games and worrying about politics. As long as there was a sufficient plan to harvest revenue from it, and not abuse it, or force it on people. It would have to be done in a real way so that primarily it is meant to relieve criminal courts, jails, and keep some of Ohio's citizens from having criminal records based on it. I think promoting healthier eating and organically grown foods, and drinks, from our local economy would help counter some of the initial curiosity too. If Detroit is any indication, our cities will be left to rot. Or not? Maybe its unsound and desperate.

In Cincinnati, an oz. or under is a ticket ... much, much, much different in comparison to where I used to live! You'd be in jail for a nickel bag.

Ohios marijuana laws are much much less serious than they are in some other states. I checked that NORML and a few other sites like that with the laws and it can get a lot worse than in Ohio.
