Wanting to come back home to Ohio
I was born and raised in Cleveland. I have lived in Alaska for the past 7-years, too much isolation. I want to be closer to my family. Can you tell me how the job situation is in Orrville please? My husband is an electrician and I am an office worker (Administrative Assistant / Office Manager). Your replies would be appreciated. Very pretty and appealing pictures posted.

Job situation around Orrville
Hello there! Well for starters this the home of Smuckers jams and jellies which is a huge operation. Smuckers along with Smith Dairy are the largest employers in the town. Next we have Wil-Burt, JLG (Gradall), several casting plants, window companies, schools, our utility company etc.
In fact they are building a new business center out on Hwy 57. Auto Zone just built a store here. We have a new middle school, we have a college, the Orrville branch of the University of Akron College. Many people come from all around to work in Orrville because we have jobs. Thank you for enquiring!

Orrville was a nice place growing up when I would visit my cousins there, but it seemed to go down hill over the last decade. I'm glad to see it's improving.

NaturalGal, you've got some beautiful pics! We lived in Doylestown for only a few short months as a transition to moving to NEOhio from MI, and I loved it! Wish I could have gotten more time down that way to explore and enjoy... It will have to wait, though, as we're getting transferred to NW Ohio this next month.
AlaskaPat... The job situation all depends on where you're going and what you need to get paid. The most likely situation is you would have to travel outside of Wayne County for decent jobs to Akron or Cleveland/C-land Metro. There are a handful of jobs in Wayne Co/Wooster, but majority are not in that area. And, at that point, you would have the balance the gas prices vs. what you get paid to figure out if the commute to where you could be working is worth the wage you're bringing home. However, housing is affordable! We had a 2bd/1bath townhome for $500/mth that was faily nice - not luxery, but not a dump either. You might have some luck finding a job with administration work that pays decent, but it might take some time to get the position. Panther II in Seville does hire dispatch people on a somewhat regularly basis at about $10.50/hr. I cannot offer any advice for your husband as I do not know what the electrician field has to offer out here.

Doylestown is another possibility for us when we move back. I admit, I just have to be close enough to the shopping areas (grocery & gas, & food, I love food LOL) . Love the pics of & around Orrville. =) I've been to Kidron a number of times too, & Amish country way too many to count. My fav place down there is in Walnut Creek, right off 39, on 515, Der Dutchman (I know, Dalton, on 30, has one too, just like the Walnut Creek one best, for scenery, & browsing afterwards, then hiking in Wilmot =) . The pan fried chicken, MMMMMMMMMM!!!! =) Then, up 515, rt on 62, to Wilmot, & lt on 250 to The Wilderness Center. Love to hike there. =) Great, great memories. =)
