transferring to Lima
I am most likely transferring to Lima. I've been told that Lima's not the best place to live, especially for a family.
Could anyone give me opinions on surrounding communities? I'll be working near Elida on the west side of Lima and would like to be within 30 minutes, 45 at the most.
I'm very involved in church (protestant) love to play golf and hunt so that needs to be "factored in"
THANKS!

Lima is in fact a great place to raise a family, Elida is a very nice, suburban community, but the school is not the best, Shawnee is about 15 minutes from there and is a bit more expensive area. Bath is the area for golf, with 3 or 4 courses. One church I would recommened is Lima Community Church, pretty centrally located between Elida, Bath, and Lima

I agree completely. Lima is a great town! Don't dismiss it until you've seen it! I am sure that you will find something to love about it.

why not Wapak?
Check out Wapakoneta. It is south of Lima - about 10 miles. Smaller - about 12,000. A variety of churches. Wonderful school system. A wide variety of home prices. Hometown of Neil Armstrong, too! WalMart, all of the fast food retaurants. Close enough to Lima for health care specialists and Macys type shopping.

Lima is a very nice place.
Lima Ohio is a great place to raise a family. The best part is thequality of life. While those in larger cities are giving up 1 to 2 hours a day driveing back and forth to work, Limaites can get anywhere in 15 to 20 min. I would definitely look at the west end of Lima. THe Farout Park area is wonderful! The schools are very nice. Lima Central Catholic and St. Charles are both on the west end and provide fantastic faith based education. The medical facilities are superior. We are a regional leader.
As for things to do, consider movies, bowling, the symphony, broadway plays, arts council activies, sporting events. If you want pro sports or big city amenities, look to toledo, Cincinnati or Cleveland. All can be reached in a few hours. They make a great day trip.
If transferring to the area, save yourself the hassle of driving 45 min each dayand wasting an hour and 1/2 each day that you could otherwise spend the way you want. Live in Lima, shawnee or Elida.

I'm with you osujess! I have lived in Lima my whole life and this board is making it seem like a wonderful place. I'm sorry but I personally think you will be in for a huge disappointment. Before everyone gets all mad trust me I will leave as soon as I am done with school. If you are happy here good for you. Just not for me!
